Took my first walk along the newly opened International Bridge pedestrian/bike path. The views of the Port of Long Beach from the path are REALLY impressive. This is a great walk. The incline is a decent work out but not too steep for my boyfriend who has a bum knee. Great for intermediate bicycle riders. Only got 1/3rd of the way across the bridge as one of the gates was locked. The gates don't list hours of operation for the path so I don't know how to tell in advance when the path is fully open and when it is not. I hope Long Beach Unified makes this walk a field trip for elementary kids because from the top of the bridge the teacher could show them exactly how The Port Of Long Beach works. This means that if the wheelchair is headed towards Terminal Island and other pedestrians are headed towards Ocean Ave, one of these sets of people is going to have to go around the other into the bike lane. So just be...
