BUYER BEWARE ! The owner of this store has a non refundable deposit policy. I deposited $675.00 for work to be done on a $20,000.00 antique table (Refinishing),to be scheduled a month later. About 30 days later I tried contacting the owner three separate times to schedule the work to be done (phone, email, messaging) I received no response to my efforts. It was only on my fourth attempt to reach him by e mail, when I requested a refund of my deposit, did he respond and apologized for not responding previous phone calls, texts and e mails. I told him I no longer trusted him and would not be entrusting him with my antiques, and that I wanted a refund. He stated that he was now ready, willing and able to proceed with the work, but I told him that based on his prior performance I did not fell comfortable working with him.Several e mails transpired where he refused to refund me and I stated that I would have to leave an unfavorable review of my experience with him as a result. Then came an e mail requesting he would refund if I would wait 45 days for him to get the funds available as he didn't have the funds presently. I told him to take up to 60 days to refund my deposit. Sixty days later I received an e mail declining to refund for failure of not providing him with a non disclosure agreement. It saddens me to have to reveal this story. It has nothing to do with the quality and workmanship at this business as I have had work on a chair done there before. It is just a factual account of my latest and...

Gave them a $500 deposit and they then totally forgot about me. When I managed to get the repair (a table refinish due to a scratch I had made) on their calendar, it took them three tries to pick up the table because they just kept canceling at the last minute. Took them three more tries to return it, and the varnish has a bubble in it, as you can see in the attached image.
Some time in the middle of this process, I just wanted my table and deposit back. I asked for that, and even said that if they had fixed the scratch, they could rescratch the table. I didn't want them to think I was trying to take advantage of them. But no dice.
When the process was finally complete, I left them what I thought was a charitable 3 star review, and they contacted me and threatened to publicly accuse me of a crime if I didn't take the review down. So now it's a 1 star review.
Bad, bad,...
Read moreMy wife found Alex and Obsolete Goods while searching for someone to refinish two mid century modern night stands that we had recently purchased. Structurally the night stand were in decent shape but the wood needed help. We dropped them off at Alex's shop along with a vintage Panasonic am/fm radio. We picked up the nightstands yesterday and both of us were completely blown away by how great they looked. Alex even took the time to repaint a couple of sections on the interior with a fresh coat of paint...a very nice touch! Since this restoration I now know why my spouse wanted these. The restoration by Alex was flawless and beautiful and surprisingly affordable. Highly...
