Christine (owner 2) is wonderful. When speaking with her, visits are pleasant. Unfortunately, she isn't there often. This is sad, honestly. I've been a customer here since they opened (the older space), for years and years now. I've always enjoyed gaming with friends and family in the open gaming area, as well.
After having (too) many unpleasant experiences with Randy (owner 1), I kept asking myself why I kept returning to shop there. I kept letting it go and wanted to shop local, so I would just let each instance of rude comments and sour tone roll off my back. This all came to an end yesterday - the final straw, you could say.
When (finally) sharing my thoughts with him about how he speaks to me, he only got angrier and started yelling. He didn't want to consider anything I had to say, but only made excuses. His rudeness and loud tantrum ran off a customer who was looking around - the dude flipped, too, ha! It's obvious that customer service isn't the field for him.
Even though Christine is great, I can't in good conscience step foot in the place again.
RESPONSE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE:
If I could give this place 10 stars I absolutely would. This place is definitely my favorite place in Longview, not just for Lena and Gunner (the bulldog and frenchie), but also for the atmosphere. My man and I are getting into Magic: The Gathering and donât know a whole lot about it, but everyone here has been so incredibly helpful. I know I can ask a question about any card or ruling or deck building and I will get an answer from someone who is excited to tell me. Everyone here is welcoming and inviting. I really feel at home at Three Suns. I love this place so much. Itâs my happy place đ even just meeting people there is nice. We donât know a whole lot about Magic: The Gathering, so we donât participate in any of the tournaments (which is also cool) but theyâre fun to watch. They also have games you can âcheck outâ and play in the gaming area. Their selection of board games, strategy games, and card games is outstanding. I have never seen so many Munchkin sets in my life. I really canât express how much I love this place. If I had the time, I would spend all day every day here.
TL;DR: itâs the best game store ever. And thereâs dogs....
Read moreOne of the most atmospherically bleak Local Game Stores I have seen in almost 10 years of playing MTG. Have gone in here a handful of times since being cussed out by a regular during FNM in 2017 and subsequently quitting tabletop and CCG for five years. The last time I went in here, I offered to clear out stock of Flesh and Blood and negotiate the price on stale stock, as I am a new player and had some extra cash, but was met with a terse "Prices are as marked" from the lady who works here. Tabletop and CCG stores' lifeblood are their community and the owners at this place do it no favors. An LGS should be warm and inviting, not dry and terse. After my last interaction, I can't see myself recommending this place to friends or every frequenting this place again. The MTG scene also seems dry and the prices here are too high! I hate to be a "hater" customer, but I don't know what could even be changed at this point to make me consider going back to this place. Edit post-response: I wasn't complaining about policy. My issue was with attitude, and I stand by prices being high in comparison to other stores I frequent. Hope things get...
