The Finishing Touch — Local services in Los Alamos

My husband and I decided to remodel our kitchen in 2020. We anticipated that this would be a grueling process having to make many decisions on our own working with multiple companies including contractors, plumbers, electricians, cabinetry companies, countertop and flooring entities and painters. We began this endeavor at The Finishing Touch in Los Alamos. Upon entering the store, I was met by Wendy Vander Ham who turned out to be our guardian angel. Her exceptional product knowledge, project management skills, contractor networks and interior design expertise alleviated all of my concerns. We began working on the remodel design and she hit the mark on my dream kitchen! She takes the time to listen to what you want and provides sound advice. Wendy really cares about the customers interests, follows up often and follows thru always. We then met with her recommended contractor, Paul Cordova, to go over the design, canned lighting, electrical work, wall removal etc... Paul and his son ultimately did the work and did a remarkable job! They went above and beyond to ensure the quality of their work (reconstruction, cabinetry installation, electrical work, and lighting) and extended their expertise to reinforce supporting walls, ensure the plumbing fixtures were adequate, offered design expertise on incorporating a coffered in the ceiling and took extra care to protect the house from excessive dust. Moreover, they installed framing around my shutters to add an extra touch to them. Paul and his son's work product was outstanding! And, they "blew and and blew out" in a week and a half only having to return to install additional cabinetry that came in later. I would trust Paul with any work needed in my home. He is a professional, and a pleasure to work with. With regard to the flooring, Julio and Marcello (Finishing Touch owners) teamed up to estimate, order and have installed the most beautiful floor that I could imagine. Even with a delay in receiving the product (a delay from the manufacturer, Shaw), they worked diligently to ensure I got exactly what I wanted. And, they remained attentive to ensure that the project was running smoothly always working in my best interest as the customer. Jaime Carrasco was detailed to install the flooring and the backsplash and did a masterful job! As with the others mentioned, his quality of work was impeccable! He was quick and efficient and a joy to have around. He has become part of the family. George Padilla, Padilla Granite, installed the countertops and they are flawless. Over all, I couldn't be more pleased with my kitchen redo! My husband and I are proud to have kept our business in Los Alamos community and working with Finishing Touch, who coordinated the entire project, was a Godsend. They are all customer oriented, strive to give you exactly what you want, work in the best interest of the customer, and offer an incredible service and product. We will continue to work with them as we upgrade our home and we highly recommend their services to all Los Alamos residents. Give them a call, they will not disappoint! The Finishing Touch is under new management. I originally went to Santa Fe Flooring because I had heard good things and met the owner, Marcelo. He told me that he had just purchased the Finishing Touch in Los Alamos and was making changes. I had a really good experience with Marcelo. He helped us pick out tile and make our design come to life. He had Jaime and Jaime (the installers) come to our place to see the bathroom the same day and we got an estimate the day after. We were pleasantly surprised when it came in lower than we expected. They were available to start quickly and were flexible when we had delays. The quality of work by Jaime and Jaime was really fantastic. They have also seen enough that they have really good taste when it comes to design details. We have used them for over ten years for carpeting and window treatments. It has always been a fantastic experience. Installers are professional and show up when they say they will. For example, we have had to pull up the carpet they installed for us twice, once for broken pipes and for a sewer repair. Both times, I called them and for a reasonable price they relaid the carpet and you can not tell where the carpet was repaired. We have tried to use other home decor stores in Santa Fe and have been burned by poor service or terrible installers every time. One of the best we have dealt with...
