Update 2: came back and they've really cleaned up the place! And more signage about rules/guidelines. Been coming back regularly now, I wonder if management changed because the whole place is much nicer and in better shape than it has been in years. Cleaner, small but important upgrades, more staffing.
Update, will be finding another gym. Maybe it was just not as busy over summer break. But now every time I go, it's gross. People here are nasty. Go to pool and sauna with no towels just leaving trails of sweaty wet paper towels wherever they go. Ladies hang their sweaty underwear in the sauna to dry. They lather their bodies with smelly oils in the sauna dripping grease all over the benches and making it stink. Under the weight benches and machines are constant dustbunnies and hair clumps. The pool deck covered with debris and wrappers. Roaches in the locker room's fabric covered benches. ...
Well there goes my 5 star review. That was quick. Brought my spouse because I had such good things to say he wanted to join. He loved the gym but when he went into the bathroom it was completely disgusting and unusable, he said every single urinal was even clogged and overflowing. What!? I mean for a facility of this caliber to have a restroom that is so unsanitary to be literally unusable is unacceptable. He did a very lowkey workout and waited to hydrate till after to avoid using the restroom. What a letdown. The Beverly Hills location is annoyingly tiny but at least it's clean! I guess I've been lucky that there are fewer women who attend the gym so our facilities arent as taxed, but I did get frustrated on a busy day to find trash in the sauna and showers.
We also realized a really simple upgrade would be to get a double rack of dumbells, there's a super limited selection for such a huge gym.
I'm a new member and so far so good. I wonder if management or staffing has changed, as I'm not seeing the issues described by reviewers a few months ago. Staff has been friendly and overall the place is very clean. Even during busy hours, there are plenty of free machines and no issue getting into the showers, sauna, etc. The pool, floor mats, and treadmills get the busiest it seems. As with most large gyms, the only real issues are the other people using it. People are gross and inconsiderate.
Have earbuds or ear plugs if you are going to use the sauna or jacuzzi and want to relax a little. People are videotaping tik toks, watching videos on their phone, playing music, constant ringing and notifications.
If you're allergic to fragrances, bring a good mask for the locker room like covid days. Once in a while some idiot will spray their nasty bottom shelf perfume in there.
At least in the womens locker room, people use it a little like a lounge. Watching videos, making phone calls, eating. No biggie, but if you're already a little shy about changing then it can feel like theres an audience at times cuz ladies are just sitting around while you strip.
If you're a woman, wear huge headphones to look a little less approachable or go with a friend. Yes you get hit on sometimes, but even polite guys who follow good gym ettiquette will interrupt you to work in on the weights and machines you use way more than they interrupt other men and it's a bit annoying.
People don't know swim etiquette at the pool, so if somebody jumps in the lane with you be prepared to explain it to them. Like walking in the swim lanes. The lanes are a bit narrow, so there's no room for that business. Again, if you're a woman expect men to try to interrupt your swim and chat you up after every dang lap and...

On Wednesday February 5, 2025. My lock was cut by the district manager, Joe because allegedly, another member thought my belongings were his belongings. So, to verify, the other member had the manager cut the lock. When it was found that he in fact cut the wrong lock, I was informed that my lock would be replaced the next day. I thought it was strange that only my locker was checked but I gave the whole situation grace and trusted that it would be corrected, when it was said it would be corrected.
Unfortunately, I didn't make it back until the following Monday, February 10 2025. Only to find out that A: My lock wasn't replaced when it was supposed to have been replaced, B: no one on the staff was informed of the incident so now, they're looking at me like I'm the one who dropped the ball and C: everyone handling the situation in manner that would suggest, these incidences happen all time. The staff was very nonchalant, disinterested in helping and border-line rude. Since there was no lock replaced, one of the associates offered to keep my things behind the desk until after my workout. However, the offering was handled in a way that would suggest I was inconveniencing them and that they were doing me a favor. After my work out, I collected my things, the number to corporate and proceeded to leave.
The next day, there was still no lock replaced. I asked to speak with a manger and an associate proceeded to go get a manger, only to come back to me and say: "they just wrapped up their last sales meeting and now off for the day." Excuse me? So, a member's property was tampered with (by a manager) and you mean to tell me another manager (who was present by the way) is unable to speak to me because "they're off."
The next day February 12, 2025, I ended up replacing my own lock. When I went to go check in, neither Joe or the other associate at the desk, even mentioned the replacement lock until after I said something. Which means, he had absolutely no intention to replaced my belongings and the replacement that he offered, was more than likely some random lock that was lying around that I'm sure he didn't even know the combination to, which would have been useless to me anyway.
So, whoever Joe reports to, you need to be aware of the protocols that are taking place at your club. Also, I would strongly suggest that someone look into the matter. If this had happen to a different type of person - you know a person with some power, money and influence (a white man), this situation would look VERY different for you all. That location would be permanently closed and everybody would be out of a job. In this economy, I don't think ANYONE on your staff could afford loosing their job.
I'm well aware that this isn't Equinox in Beverly Hills but at the VERY least, I would expect an incident of this magnitude to be handled way better...
Read moreI mostly use the gym for its pool, sauna, and elliptical machines.
Two years ago, I came to this location hoping to try out the pool. But guess what? I got hit by a strong chlorine smell coming from the pool level while I was on an elliptical glider. I couldn’t stand the chlorine smell, and it made my throat feel irritated. I started coughing, and I knew for sure that people had been urinating in the pool.
Elliptical gliders are so outdated! I usually go to LA Fitness in the Tustin / Irvine area, and their machines are so much better. And most of them are in good condition, unlike these ones here. They’re broken all over the place.
Fast forward to June 2025, and I decided to give the pool and elliptical another try. I wanted to see if there had been any improvements. Here are some of my experiences:
-3 stars is for the dirty pool, changing rooms, and old elliptical machines they have here.
I called in advance and asked about their pool cleaning schedule. Turns out, they only clean once a week, and it’s on Saturday. So I went at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The pool water wasn’t as clear as it should have been, and it was really warm. It’s not great to swim in warm water, especially when you’re worried about having a heat stroke.
The water was also super salty, and there was barely any chlorine smell. The walls of the pool were green, and some corners had black mold. I saw the mold right away and quickly got out of the water. I didn’t even want to try out the whirlpool…I just don’t want to take any chances.
Changing rooms: I saw a big, detailed butt print on the bench in the women’s changing room. I didn’t see any signs of reminders about proper hygiene etiquette from LA Fitness. The butt print was there before I entered the pool and still there after I finished my shower. There was also hair everywhere, hairs that are not just from the head …
Overall, I had a really disappointing experience at this gym. I’m not sure if I’ll be going back anytime soon.
The shower area was decent. I won’t complain too much about a free shower or taking a star off for the shower heads or anything… but there were a lot of hair near the drains and corners of the shower.
The elliptical machines were still outdated. Most of them still work, but I guess they won’t get replaced unless they’re completely broken. The user experience isn’t as pleasant for the unlucky people who get on one that’s in poor condition. If you can stand the rattle noise and the clink of the joints, then it’s all fine.
Again, this review is mainly about my personal experiences. I don’t do weight lifts at the gym, and I rarely come here for their class or use other rooms for sports, etc. I might update the review if I ever use more of...
