Alfonso Ruiz just hung up on me after I questioned what Holly Mitchellâs office is doing for its constituents. For nearly Two years I have been calling and emailing his office, begging them to hold the health department and the Department of economic opportunity accountable. Inthe city of Lennox, directly across the street and surrounding areas from their office, We have an out of control illegal Vending crisis. If you visit the Department of economic opportunity website, You will find extensive Resources for street vendors. Free training, money and endless options that are forcing more carts and Vendors throughout our cities. While this department has had time to set up all sorts of workshops and resources for fasttracking and promoting street vendors. They have yet to accomplish any sort of system for those that do not comply. Several vendors in my area have been educated as many as six times! They are wasting our taxpayer dollars by sending out officials to âeducateâ while apparently having NO REPERCUSSIONS for those that do not follow the rules. How can the Department of economic opportunity Manage to set up such an extensive street vending program and forget to have any Enforcement for not complying with this program? Where is all the resources support and grant money for brick and mortar businesses? Why are restaurants and quick service restaurants not receiving so much support? Why is it that tax Paying businesses and citizens are left to fund these ridiculous programs for people that arenât even grateful enough to comply with the rules?!
Hawthorne Boulevard has signs up and down the boulevard that clearly mark for two hour parking only. The Sheriffâs office has told me that they are not allowed to enforce parking rules to street vendors. The health department has told me they are afraid to confront street vendors as a lot of them have presented guns in refusal to following requirements. They have told me they are ran by gangs and their offices are afraid. I have DOZENS of unanswered emails and texts from various People at the Department of economic opportunity, some going back as far as a year. Analu, Cristina delgado, mieshaâŚ. Why are they afraid to answer ? Why arenât we all held to the same standards? Equality is not being present. Law and order is not being upheld. Where are our elected officials?! I have requested to speak with Holly. I was told to submit a request onlineâŚ. I called and requested to speak with her⌠I received a call back from Alfonso Ruiz, who had sent me an email several months ago, letting me know that he is no longer responsible for unincorporated areas. Yet, here he is calling me back! Giving me rhe run around yet again, With ZERO answers. No parking enforcement. No vendor enforcement. A city littered with trash, junkies, graffiti and open air illegal activity at every corner. If youâd like to see somebody doing meth, head on down to Holly Mitchellâs office in Lennox and visit the library! Each day as I pass by I see people peeing in their bushes, and smoking meth out front. Just one short block from Hollyâs office is a school. Every day young children have to walk home from school past adults doing drugs and using the bathroom in public spaces. Holly Mitchell and team, you should be ashamed and embarrassed! I have spent hours on hold, hours sending emails and BEGGING for some accountability! HOLLY, I HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO WRITING THIS EMAIL AS A CRY FOR HELP! PLEASE, return my requests to speak to you. I am not here for a fight. All I want is an equal opportunity to do business and live my life. I am Not asking for to much.
I have added a photo of an illegal street vendor set up, locking the entire sidewalk in front of Lennox library. The library is right next to supervisor Mitchelâs Lennox office
There is no sidewalk space for the public to use the public sidewalk. Vendors have no hand washing or sanitation set up. They have no business permits and no...
Read moreUpdate: it has been months and her offices have now stopped reaching back out to me. I received an Initial few responses and then the line went dead⌠Homeless, running around outside of her urinating and using the ground as a bathroom. Drug use wherever you look. A city ran by junkies and riddled with crime. I drove by her offices and the library yesterday and witnessed a man urinating on the library building. This is the type of respect they have for the city that we all live and work in.
I have been calling and calling and no one answers the phones. My business is under constant attack from drugged out homeless and no one seems to care about the city of Lennox. The office phones just constantly ring if youâre lucky enough to get the voicemail box you have to listen through about 45 seconds of voicemail before youâre able to leave a recording. Iâve left several recordings and have not been called back and I am feeling very defeated and discouraged, but I will not be giving up. If you guys donât wanna answer the phone to be accountable for your district and I will continue to fight until you are removed. We are the people are paying for you to be in office and are here to represent us and you are failing us. It is not humane to allow human beings to rot in the streets like they do in Lennox. It is also a gigantic slap in the face for rule abiding businesses when you allow completely unregulated street vendors to do whatever they want. My neighborhood is riddled with un permitted vendors that sell out of their vehicles And various other methods. They adhere to no public health rules and do not pay their dues. I have reached out to the health department. Several times they have visited and confirmed with me that these vendors are not permitted yet they still allow them to operate. They illegally utilize legal businesses parking and over run those of us that follow societies rules. I am demanding change and I wonât stop...
Read moreYou will force mom and pop owners to sell to corporate renters if you continue your misguided limitation on raising rents to pay our costs. Corporate rents will as NOT be lower than Mom and Pop rents. Low income housing costs in Santa Monica! $2200 for a single because the corporations are taking over everything! You're gonna do the same to LA.
Your office protects liars over mom and pop owners. My 84 y/o mother valiantly held on to her duplex through dementia. She now needs full time care. I attempted to sell her building to help pay for her care (cutting my potential inheritance by 30% because we will have to pay taxes on the sale because I needed the funds to take care of her). Her 41 year old tenant made it very clear to potential buyers that she was going to give them a hard time. She made it difficult to show the building and the realtors would support that statement. I finally offered it to her 30% under market just so I could get funds to take care of my mother. Unsurprisingly, no one would give her alone not even her parents who are wealthy. Finally, a few years later my daughter got a job in the area and I tried to relocate this tenant so that my daughter, the owners granddaughter could move in. This tenant then lied and said her ex-husband his living there, and he had a health condition which guaranteed him lifelong tenancy. The Los Angeles housing department accepted this statement at face value, and denied my relocation for my daughter. My mother's expenses having increased, building maintenance has increased, and now the city wants to do this to Momand Pop's? I guess the tenant from hell is the one who gets...
