I got stranded here with about 20 others due to the time display sign stating there were more trains running after midnight. I haven't been to this new transit center and had the opportunity before my son's and I late night breakfast over Sherlock Holmes at Denny's in SeaTac. (I have an irrational fear of eating out and was going to work on it and my adult son didn't mind helping.) This transit center is well lit, has lots of security, and wild rabbits hopping around. It's really nice. It was just past midnight and the real next train was at 4:15 AM. The transit security officer telling the group of passengers this wonderful news suggested that people wait off the platform on the ground level or walk to Aurora Village transit center where a bus that runs all night back to Seattle can be accessed. He said "Take a left out of the transit center, walk to 99, turn left and walk until you see Costco." My son and I walk everywhere with no problem, we were going to make the walk. I saw an older woman in cork-bottom Burkenstock-style flip-flops, unseen shorts, a white, tunic-length, long-sleeved button-down collar shirt, and a black hooded jacket ask a young gentleman with thick black curls if he was walking. I don't know what he told her but she then turned and asked my son and I, we didn't hesitate to invite her. She introduced herself as did we. I offered our company at her pace as she was noticeably older. She stated she was 77 years old and loves walking and although she wasn't dressed for it, she was up to it. By the time we left the Lynwood Transit Center we were a group of 6: Ms. Elizabeth, 77; Mr. Proctor, 60's and made this trek once before; Mr. Andy, early-middle aged with a noticeable limp; the Young Gentleman with thick black curls; my 21 year old son and I. The next 5 1/2 miles was a fitting experience for all of us. Ms. Elizabeth kept the best pace never complaining about the walk but we did get a good 3 miles of hearing what she thought of Sound Transit. Thank you Subway on 99 in Edmonds for your kindness and courtesy for a bathroom break with no purchase necessary. Open 24hrs! Mr. Andy turned off on his own around this time and the young gentleman with the thick black curls was way ahead. Mr. Proctor, Ms. Elizabeth, my son, and I made it to Aurora Village at 3:01 AM and the next bus was at 3:48 AM. The Aurora Village was well lit and had security as there were people waiting for the bus. It was a very nice night for the walk and again, our nomadic group of strangers was fitting. Sound Transit, please fix your time displays and warn people of the last train running. Until then, be thankful there's watchful eyes on...
Read moreToday(8th Oct 2024), I started home to office at 9 a.m., and it turned into quite an adventure that I wanted to share with everyone. I typically commute to the office from Lynnwood City Center. However, today, I couldn’t find parking at Lynnwood City Center. Thinking Mountlake Terrace might have availability, I drove there, but it was also full. I then headed to Shoreline North/185th, but again, no luck. Finally, I managed to get parking at Shoreline South/148th, but by then, it was already 10:40 a.m.
Despite today’s challenges, I still rated the service a 5, as this doesn’t reflect my experience on the train itself. However, it’s clear we need more parking, and I hope the county will address this need as the station is still relatively new. With more employers ramping up return-to-office plans, this might become an ongoing issue. I encourage everyone to plan their commute with these potential...
Read moreWorthwhile to note that you'll need to plan accordingly if you're looking to park your vehicle here. This place experience heavy commuter traffic during the morning hours and all parking spots are usually filled by approximately 8 am. Plan to arrive ahead of that time as you'll not find parking in the multilevel garage and will instead need to park in the surrounding areas with available space such as the parking lot by Shell gas station.
Also, on major event days, such as Mariner games or concerts, this garage fills up quick around 4 pm. Plan accordingly for the increased traffic and limited space.
Overall, this is a major part of my commute into the office to avoid traffic that often snarls the stretch of I5 both ways later in the day. Transit security often patrols the garage so things are kept...
