On a recent mission to the Alderwood Mall area, I developed a strong desire for Japanese food. I clicked on Google Maps where the search feature told me that there was a place nearby that had sushi and noodles. Perfect! I hit the start button and set off. It's a good thing I had Google Maps. I had to make three U-turns and dash across a few lanes of traffic to get to the building that includes Q Sushi & Kitchen. I managed to find a parking spot near the door and headed in. I don't know where the other cars in the parking lot came from, but I was the only one in the restaurant at lunchtime. A young woman at the cash register offered me my choice of tables. I picked one and she brought over a menu. It was a snowy cold day, so I asked for green tea while I read through my options. I could choose from a number of Japanese and Chinese dishes along with an a la carte sushi menu. I went with Yakisoba and a spider roll. The waitress surprised me by asking how spicy I wanted my noodles. I've never had spicy Yakisoba before, but I decided to give it a try. The noodles came out a bit over decorated with ground seaweed, but the slight spice was a delight. There was way more chicken than noodles and everything was well prepared. If you haven't tried one, you should know that there are no spiders in a spider roll. There is a soft shell crab battered and deep fried wrapped in seaweed with some vegetables and rice. The roll is sliced into rounds that are always too big to put in your mouth. Not one to shy away from a challenge, I find a way to bite off pieces without dropping too much back on the plate. When done well, a spider roll is delicious. This one was done well. The contrast between the soft rice and the crunchy crab is delightful. The flavors of crab, vegetables and sushi seasoning is amazing. I was good and full when I finished everything up. While I had gained weight, my wallet was noticeably lighter. But it was good. Maybe I'll get a second job and go back...

Fairly small area, but love the food they kicked out!
I had a Spicy tuna handroll, Salmon skin handroll, Dynamite roll, and Ono nigiri.
Spicy tuna handroll was per-fect! Has a nice kick with some heat on it. It wasn't disguised to hide any flaws or lack of knowledge in how to prep some spicy tuna.
Salmon skin handroll had so much crunch to it you'd think you'd develop a 6 pack from all the crunches!
Having said that though...it did seem like the salmon skin handroll was a bit on the loose end. Nothing that made a mess of anything because I still thoroughly enjoyed the dang thang!
The Dynamite roll was very good. Had some spots where avocado was the star topper...but all in all...it was DY-NO-MITE!
The Ono nigiri, first time I had it torched with a chef's torch and that was the standard. Everyone else after that served it cold and raw and it never was the same as when I had to flash torched. But this chef nailed it and I found myself in love with Ono again!
Warning folks...do NOT go crazy and gorge on Ono. Escolar can have a very bad side affect that can cause you change your address to sitting on the can.
My wife had the Teriyaki salmon bento box. She ate most of it but felt the rice was from a dry patch that she felt was maybe old rice. It came with pork gyozas which she doesn't eat pork...YAY FOR ME! Needless to say...she killed it.
The server was on point and did a great job and watching out for our cups and all.
I can't wait to come back again and try...

Baked Salmon Specialty Maki - literally what you expect with cooked salmon layered with a basic roll. Nice and warm, tasty.
Baked Scallop Specialty Maki - one of my new favorites, all the flavors just worked really well together. Cheese is also baked underneath. My only complaint is that the rolls can be bunched up in this position and harder to grab one piece (and not break other side pieces).
Tiger Specialty Maki - doesn't really look like a tiger with bits of eel and tuna alternating. Felt more like a basic roll with eel on the outskirts.
Flaming Sake Specialty Maki - this one looked more like a tiger to me with the salmon on top and sauce as stripes, but anyways I really enjoyed the overall taste of this one.
Q Specialty Maki - seems you only get 6 pieces versus the 8 for every other maki roll. I think it's wrapped lighter too as the pieces fell apart easy. I wouldn't order this one again but it wasn't that bad.
Sake Traditional Maki - my go-to for a basic roll, just seaweed, rice, and salmon. Can't go wrong and helps me cleanse my taste buds from all the burst of flavors in other rolls.
Rainbow Traditional Maki - super common roll that didn't shock me, I knew what I was getting and I was right as there was a variety of different toppings on the roll (fishes and avocado for...
