I don’t usually write reviews or commendations for people.
So I write this with a steady and clear statement of impact from me.
In all my years exploring Warhammer stores across the country—from Nebraska and Texas to Utah, Idaho, California, Oregon, and Washington—I’ve rarely felt the need to sit down and put my thoughts into words. But today, I wanted to because Matthew Francisco, of the Lynnwood Warhammer store, is someone truly exceptional—and he deserves to be recognized.
We’ve had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful staff across the Warhammer community—people like Jason in Bellingham and Tyler in Portland—each with their own style and strength. Many stores we’ve visited are located in lively, well-trafficked areas with shops, food, and attractions that naturally draw people in. The Lynnwood store, by contrast, is tucked away—without that central visibility or built-in crowd.
And yet, it’s the store we return to most, and the one that stands out far above the rest. Because of one reason: Matthew.
Matthew doesn’t just work at the Lynnwood Warhammer store. He leads it with care, presence, and purpose. He has built a community that embodies the very heart of Warhammer—where the creativity, camaraderie, and spirit of the hobby come alive. It’s not just a store—it feels like a home. As a married couple who’ve made Warhammer part of our shared journey, we can honestly say that this store has become part of our lives. And that’s because Matthew has made himself part of the story.
What sets Matthew apart is how he holds space for everyone. He is truly gifted at connecting with people from all walks of life—kids lighting up with excitement, families discovering the hobby together, couples like us looking for a shared space, and even those of us living with disabilities or seeking safer, more mindful spaces. Matthew is that safe person. He meets people where they are with warmth, gentleness, and genuine respect. The culture he has cultivated is inclusive, patient, and human-centered—something that’s rare and deeply appreciated.
He’s also constantly hobbying—painting, building, modeling—and not off in a corner, but right in the heart of the space, inviting others to join in. That open invitation means so much. It says: “You belong here. Let’s build something together.” His presence draws people in, not because of location, but because of the feeling he creates. And when we say people come for Matthew, we mean it. His store may not be the most centrally located, but it has a vibrancy and warmth that outshines many others.
We’ve given Matthew a lot of our feedback—not because he asked for it, but because we trust him. He listens, he cares, and he works to shape the store experience around real community connection. In a world where so many retail spaces are focused on sales over soul, Matthew is a standout.
Matthew Francisco is more than a team player—he’s a model for what every Warhammer store should aspire to be. His leadership, empathy, and commitment to inclusion have built something rare and beautiful in Lynnwood. We hope he is not only recognized, but celebrated as the incredible asset he is—not just to Games Workshop, but to the entire Warhammer community.
With sincere gratitude and...
Read moreGreat Shop and Fun Environment. Whether a Player, Painter, or both its great hobby.
I love painting GW minis they are the most detailed and interesting around. Also I love a good game. I play often with my kids aged 14 - 6 and teach them about counting, math, critical thinking, reading large words, interacting with new people and consequences of decisions all while maintaining a good sportsman like conduct.
Ive also used GW to teach them about art, color theory, light sources, poses, mixing, blending, shading, and personal growth that comes from consistent and repetative work.
Personally I've been going to this location for years and they have all the great hard to find items. There are two game tables set up with an AWESOME assortment of terrain to make each game unique. There is another table for painting if you want to show up and be in the environment, and a table split in three with kill teams and new releases on display.
This is a very welcoming environment just ask questions and they are more than happy to show you where to start and...
Read moreAs an avid GW player I have mixed feelings about this location.
The store owner is an older guy who has always been very friendly and down to earth.
The sole other employee is younger and more on the, "pushy GW employee" spectrum.
On one hand I like that there is a GW store close by for specific stuff; however their stock only goes so far. This is dictated by what people are buying so I cant really fault them on this and therefore do a lot of "ship-to-store" orders which I love.
What I specifically do not like is the attitude from the younger employee. He acts laid back at first but then sticks his nose up at you if you ask a question or share an opinion. The experience he gives off is very much, "you need to buy more stuff cause I know this game better than you" which is very much in contrast with the store owner.
GW makes some great games but everyone plays the hobby differently so dont act like your opinion is the ONLY right way...
