The facility is brand new, so all the equipment are new also. They use HTC VIVE headsets and controllers that are wired to the ceiling so there's minimal cord confliction. When you're renting a station (out of the 4 or 5 available), Susanne and Bryce assisted my brother and I with making sure everything was comfortable and adjusted properly for an unhindered experience. The headset and controllers felt clean, so it would be safe to assume they're properly maintained. There's adequate spacing to go with virtual reality setups of course, and oddly enough that also works in favor for social distancing during the pandemic. The staff also enjoy looking for new forms of entertainment to accompany the VR experience, such as planks of wood for you to walk on during tightrope VRs games. Aside from the VR stations themselves, they also have more space available for other parties and what not. You can also rent out the facility ahead of time for a closed group.
While my brother and I had visited the location to see how we felt about VR at all, we in fact ended up enjoying our time there and got to see the lengths of dedication the staff had for their services. We paid $50 total for the both of us for an hour (during their Tuesday to I believe Saturday discount), which feels a slightly expensive but not too heavy for the occasional visit. Personally it felt like we were there for longer since I nearly forgot how to walk after getting familiarized with...
Read moreI've been seeing this place and wondering what the deal is, and man is it worth it. If you want to learn and play new board games, come here. They also have so much VR space, and full setups, but that's not even the best part and that alone is completely unique. The owner sat down and learned a board game of our choice with us before we bought it. She's awesome, the game was awesome, tons of table space, we even had to get up and leave and they watched our stuff. We came back and painted the minis on site and there was no table charge or food pushiness. Come here for your tabletop, they will have wizards of the coast and DnD first party stuff soon. I've been to every game store in town, and if you miss Lucky Dice or just don't miss aggressive monetization, this is one of the only places in town that's chill. I can't wait to take my daughter here when she's old enough to do VR, or play her first little DnD session....
Read moreFantastic game store and virtual reality play center with an energetic and positive staff that actually interact with you when you walk in their door. A refreshing change from the private club atmosphere you experience when visiting most "game stores" in the greater Huntsville area.
Cora, Grant, and Susanne (sp?) were gracious hosts of the Altered TCG Roadshow event on August 24th. I would highly recommend you check them out for Altered TCG organized play and community.
They even have a robust and varied wall of board games open for play in their ample and clean play space and will teach you Altered, Lorcana, or any of the board games they have out on their demo tables!
Immaculately clean and tidy bathrooms were the cherry on top of this wonderful retail experience.
As a professional in the tabletop gaming industry, Altered Reality VR and Game Center comes with my highest recommendation. A breath...
