Came for my very first one piece tournament. I had been trying to familiarize myself with the rules, as it's so hard to find product and play. I had been excited to come and play at their event all week. I took off work, showed up, and patiently waited alone while no employee or player said a single word to me. Not even a hi or this is how the event works. I get matched and explain it's my first match. He proceeds to cheat by lying about cards effects , saying I have to show every search even though there's no reveal keyword. So he saw my whole hand the whole game, but there's no judge. I make a mistake in play pacing, and he immediately calls me out for an illegal play causing me to lose the match. I tell the organizer I want to drop over the way this is being handled where the competitors are making judge calls. And if there is a judge, no one told me. Even when I asked. Now I'm not upset I lost at all. I planned to actually. I was excited to play finally and hang out with some people who were genuinely excited about the game. And just be in a warm welcoming store. This is not the place at all. Worst employees I've seen in an LGS. They don't care if you come in or not. Buy or not. They have no knowledge on half the product. They play on their phone and text while checking you out. Prioritize card pulls over a line of people waiting to check out. Consistently charge over 20-40% higher than TCG prices. And are generally just rude. They'll eat while they talk to you. They'll talk to their friends and have you just wait. It was the ABSOLUTE WORST experience I've had at an LGS. I worked at one for 6 years and managed one for two and I was appalled at this location. Everything games on the other hand was wonderful to me! Offered to teach me the game and mechanics. Allowed me to re play a mess up. And sold at fair prices. I can't even write enough words for my contempt for this place. So I'll just end with have a nice day. I hope you never have the misfortune of stepping into this...
Read moreGreat store for all kinds of games and comics and funko pops. Customer service is a hit or missed ( I have seen the owners response from previous complaints), and with that said, he needs to understand that customer service levels can't be exceptional every day. I have had the pleasure of seeing the owner when he is in the store, and all the employees are running around and happy Go- get em attitude, as soon he leaves, they go back to the normal basic BLAH service I get it. Long-term employees get comfortable; they have old habits and revert to them as soon the owner or upper management is gone for the day. "Out of sight out of mind" by all means very knowledgeable, happy, people he has in the store. Some recognize me; some don't. I was basically visiting the store 2 to 4 times a week. I still do visit, but I also have venture to Elmhurst, skokie, glenview, buffalo Grove, and other LGS stores even if I travel a bit to get to them. All The LGS store have the same knowledgeable exceptional employees, some price gouge, some work with you while you spend 400 plus on different items from pokemon to magic, up and including vanguard and yugioh and specially D&D. Believe me from visiting this LGS stores in the burbs, due to the city been a different animal they all have their customer service moments where one day they happy and giddy and the next the just swamp and or having a bad day and they barely help or give you an attitude. At the end of the day, is customer service, and it SUCKS working in the people business for the simple reason you have to deal with multiple personalities through the day and you basically have to do it all with a SMILE. So go ahead and stop by drop a hello to the team and make their work experience pleasurable so they can make your shopping...
Read moreHad been going here on and off for years but I think I'm done. I went there and had them look at some cards I was thinking about selling. I wasn't happy with their offer, so I took my cards back, which I had removed from my binder personally. I knew every card, (it was only 10 cards), and they returned one less card, My exquisite blood. I drove all the way home before I realized which is 45 minutes away, and they were closed by then. It's probably a mistake and it was probably left on their desk while they were looking up prices, but when I called they were adamant they didn't have it, even though I'm 100% sure they do. It's a 30 dollar card, I knew I had it. I called them asking about it and they didn't help at all, just asked the guy who priced my cards, and Of course he's gunna say he didn't do anything. They didn't offer another or even a discount on another, considering they lost it, they did nothing. I'll probably never go there again, they're so big, and have so many sales on TCG, but are gunna do this? I was astonished honestly. There's 100% no way I lost that one card and not every other one I had in the pile. Now I'm out a card, a very expensive card, and lost faith in one of the biggest stores in the area. Extremely disappointed, and are all my friends who were there with me and heard about this. I've spent thousand there and feel completely robbed. Worst part was they had the audacity to tell me to "look again, sometimes cards stick together", as if I didn't know that, and as if I hadn't already searched everywhere for it. Not only that, I've still been searching since this happened a few days ago. It's is not anywhere, and like I said the other 9/10...
