JCPenney — Local services in Maine Township

I am very glad to have a place to go in to and shop versus online shopping. I am still someone who needs to see the quality of an item rather than take a gamble with it online esp for size purposes, only to then go back and return. Anyways, surprisingly, the Ladies department has some really nice professional/outing wear now. The fabric, colors and prints are very stylish and priced well! The Jewelry/accessories section is good also.

I took away 3 stars for two main reasons. They need to hire more people or hire people who can work their old register systems faster. Also, the 2nd floor is creepy. They need to fix the roofs that make it seem like they are leaking right on to the kids section. Yuck! The kids section is empty but stuff on the floor everywhere! Boys section has a limited amount of clothes to choose from. It is so empty. I know those are old buildings and profits are not there. Then they need to bring the kids section down somehow. Whatever it is, the conditions of the 2nd floor are deplorable!

So yes, I do recommend JC Penny Golf Mill for women's clothing and accessories. Men's department is okay. They need to get rid of the back side of the loads of Men's stuff that has been there forever and bring down kids section. They will see their sales rise once they add a new, fresh and stylish...

Everyone there was helpful, especially the lady at customer service..... but the portrait studio's a whole other story....... they lease space from JCPennys & it's not great, overpriced, not really geared to deal w/ toddlers, you have to bring your own props or toys. Very rude, we were there 20 mins. early, our session didn't start on time & we were rushed thru it, had to wait again when others came to ask questions or pickup their photos ( only 1 person) was there the day we had an appointment. They send out coupons for photos, but fail to explain the added costs involved when you use them, then charge & order pkgs. you were never told about, & didn't want. When you get back to pickup the photos, & try to ask questions (BIG MISTAKE) according to them ( HOW DARE YOU) the mgr. of the studio is LOUD & RUDE to you. We've had pictures taken at a few different places before, not a lot of companies do it anymore in stores, so I guess it's the way it is now, other than the horrible portrait studio, Penny's is a fabulous store. Why are retailers like JC Penney going out of business? Lack of common sense! I walked into the JC Penney store in Niles Illinois and since I was there to purchase small appliances I went around the store looking for a shopping cart or a basket since there were none near the entrance. I asked a cashier where the shopping carts were located. Her response was "oh I am sorry there are only 3 carts in the store." 3 shopping carts in the entire store! When I looked around I saw customers shopping around JC Penney with shopping carts from the neighboring Ross and another customer had a large target shopping cart and there was even a customer pushing around a shopping cart from Sears which is insane since that store went out of business years ago (FORESHADOWING MUCH!). Absolutely absurd! Needless to say, I did not even bother shopping around for everything I needed and went over to Kohl's where they care enough about their customers to OFFER a BASIC shopping cart. Seriously! You have a 2-story department store and you only offer 3...
