When I scheduled an appt the guy I talked to seems accommodating and nice. When I brought the bikes in the shop, I talked to one of their mechanics and he was very knowledgeable and actually made recommendations on how to fix the bikes and how do proceed with their maintenance work (they were sitting in storage for a while). The guy I made the appt with was out at that time and we were asked to wait. The guy came in and he didn’t even made a thorough inspection of the bikes and he told us that they can’t work on the bikes not giving a specific reason even when I asked for one. During the interaction he sounded rude and unprofessional too. I wish I got his name but I decided just to leave. The only reason I can think of is that the bikes were not high end ones (State Bicycle track bike and a Jamis Commuter bike), such a bad experience overall with this shop.
We actually end up going to another bicycle store not to far away (bigger one too) and they dis the maintenance care needs and fixed the issues that they found...
Read moreI'm disappointed with the service that I received at South Bay Cycle today. My husband and I were looking for an e-bike and stopped by a couple of weeks ago. The service we received a few weeks ago was stellar. Chris was very informative and with his help, we left a deposit on a bike that he ordered for us. We received a text message on Monday that the bike was ready. We came by today to test drive it. Luckily it wasn't raining at the time. Chris wasn't in. Instead, we were greeted by Randall. When we told him that we were there to ride the bike he immediately said that we couldn't test drive it because someone would have to clean it after. Then he said he was concerned about the safety of riding when the ground was wet. It was very disappointing to drive 40 minutes out to their shop to be told that no one would want to clean the bike after we rode it. My husband tried expressing this to Randall but he didn't seem concerned by it. My husband and I asked that our deposit...
Read moreI took my bike into South Bay Cycle when I couldn't replace a broken internally cabled rear derailleur shifter cable myself. At first I was told that their repair department was booked for weeks, but they managed to slot my bike into their schedule in two days. So I brought it back in 2 days and they replaced both shifter cables on time. The next day I took my bike on a nice hilly ride and upon arriving at the top of a big hill I discovered that I couldn't shift the front derailleur into the large ring unless I got off the bike and did it manually. It was way too tight. That made for an interesting ride. When I took the bike back to SB Cycle, they immediately fixed the problem and were very apologetic and took great strives to correct that mistake. Would I take my bike back there again? Yes I would because they are trying, but I wouldn't leave until I'd test ridden the bike around their...
