I have been buying gift cards at Festival foods here, for years... yesterday I bought a number of them as well. I wrote a check for my groceries and the Gift cards all in one, without one bit of trouble what so ever. Today I went back to get a few things I missed and finish up my gift cards. when I went to write the check,, was told you can't pay for them with a check. you need to use a credit card or cash. I said, that is crazy, i just bought some yesterday without a problem... the little cashier was nice enough, and called over someone in charge. I said the same thing to her... then she called another manager over, and he said, we can't take a check. so i told him he could keep in groceries, in not a nice way--- then I remembered i did have a debit card, but just got it recently.... i was in a hurry, so decided to keep the groceries and cards, and use the debit card, which your systerm kept denying it or such, and finally the girl got it to work. If you want to keep that rule, then put a big big sign by the cards that say cash or credit card only. I'm think pic n save is sounding like a pretty good place, although I have gone to Festival for over 30 years. it's not bad enough that most of the time you have to bag your own groceries, even people over 75, and when a person bags them, uses no common sense, about how they do it. put heavy things in with soft things, like bread. yesterday he put two large bottle of pop, in with my potatoe chips. I put them out of the bag when I saw it, when i put the groceries in the car. and took them out. I showed them my check book amount that had more than enough money to pay for the cards. . I don't like being treated like this. I've never written you a bad check in all the years I've shopped there. You could have kept the scene down, if you just said, "go ahead, and let her write the check"...( but no then there was a scene.) after all, it had my address, etc. on it,. if it was no good, you could have called the police on me. Walmart is sounding pretty good as well. i've never had problems previously until this year---- old people should not be...
Read moreOpen 24 hours? Lmao that must be a REALLY old photo.
The fact that they aren't open 24 hours anymore is VERY inconvenient.
The produce department is very hit and miss. Fresh garlic - GOOD garlic - is impossible to find. Onions go bad faster than anywhere else I've ever bought them from. Butcher counter has a decent selection, but don't ask them to cut anything for you since the butcher apparently has better hours than bankers do.
For a place that's not open 24 hours per day, there is a shocking amount of stocking that goes on during business hours, which is incredibly inconvenient for shoppers trying to navigate around all the boxes and skyjacks with a cart. They should stock at night when they won't let you shop.
If you are considering any fresh pastries, evaluate them carefully. On more than one occasion I've found mold on the stock that's on display. Staff are always apologetic about it when it is pointed out, but it shouldn't have to be pointed out.
Just like everything else these days, quality is slipping and costs are increasing. If hy-vee ever comes to town, this place will close down...
Read moreWe ordered our Thanksgiving meal from the deli. We get to our Thanksgiving destination, get ready to make our meal, only to find they had given us the wrong meal. We ordered a ham meal, and we're given a turkey meal. I called the store immediately to let them know, and they offered a refund. When I went to the store to get my refund. I was given nothing but the run around. I was given a Festival gift card as a refund. I didn't pay with this with a gift card, and shouldn't have been expected to happy with a Festival gift card. Our entire family Thanksgiving meal was ruined. We had to go out buy a ham, prepare and cook it. Our meal was four hours later than planned. I am SO sorely disappointed in this store, and the entire way this was handled. It will be awhile until I shop at Festival Foods again. I fulfilled my part as their customer, and they dropped the ball in the worst way. I...
