Nice people, service was generally good. The food, however, was miserable;
All the noodles were cold and overcooked.
The egg rolls were decent, but the gyoza were soggy and bland, and the sweet and sour sauce tasted like vinegar and sugar, completely unseasoned.
The rice tasted decent, but like the noodles, it was severely overcooked.
The orange and sesame chicken were both legitimately inedible. They didn't taste like either of their namesakes, reeking of old fryer oil and tasting like chicken that had been left out too long. Both sauces tasted mildly of vinegar and little else, bringing the funky fryer chicken to center stage.
The sushi was just awful; the rice was hard, the seaweed somehow falling apart and rubbery at the same time, and the vegetables/crab inside tasted bland at best, rotten at worst.
The ice cream was fine, but I know they didn't make it, since they served it in its cardboard shipping container.
I usually clean house at an all-you-can-eat, but I couldn't finish my second plate at World Buffet.
The atmosphere wasn't great either, with the harsh lighting and large windows making it feel more like a school dining hall than a Chinese buffet. Especially compared to the great aesthetic of the old location, it's rough.
If you're thinking of checking out World Buffet because you remember the old location being good, go to Pizza Ranch down the street instead; it's an American-Italian joint, and it could probably do Chinese food...
Read moreI visited at 8pm on a weekend when they close at 10pm. The entire staff appeared to be eating dinner themselves at a table out front. One got up and seated me when I walked in. The buffet was almost completely empty. There was a smattering of cold food in a few of the buffet slots. Over by the staff table was a card that had multiple treats of fresh food that they were eating.
There wasn't even fried rice available. One group of patrons was getting angry and asked for some food to be made. They made the food, but not a full portion. After the people who asked for it had some, there was basically nothing left. Staff were not open and available to requests for food. It felt like you had to harass them to get anything.
What's the point of even having the buffet under those circumstances? You may as well take it down and have people just order off the menu. The few things I did get weren't good in the first place. I won't...
Read moreThey always had very good food for the last couple years I had gone there. But I was there a couple day ago at 11 am, start of the buffet. Food was terrible. Chicken was rubbery, crab rangoon was so overcooked I almost chipped a tooth. And as I was sitting by the table I could see the server who was bringing food out earlier, helping the food delivery guy bringing food in from a semi truck...puffing on a cigarette, blowing it all over the boxes of food! I was done eating! This guy was in his mid to late 20s, dark hair unshaven, cachasion. I didn't even stay for desert! The girl never came to my table to ask if I wanted a refill or how the food was as they usually do. I didn't leave a tip and don't think I will be going back after seeing the poor handling of food! VERY disappointed! By the time I got home, I was sick with diaherria...AWFUL experience and they have gone down...
