I stopped by here for the first time in a few years recently. I used to spend $500+ per month at this store under the prior ownership. The store has gone downhill so fast. There were virtually ZERO options to purchase individual packs and/or boxes of cards. You're pretty much just relegated to purchasing singles here. I was baffled at how poor the stock for sealed products was.
The newer, smaller shops that have popped up recently in Charlotte have a much better selection if you are looking to actually open some cards. I didn't even see a single box of anything but baseball here, and even that selection was very lacking.
It is also incredibly messy in the store. Bob used to keep his store organized, offering many price ranges of individual packs for people to purchase. That has now been replaced by rows and rows of worthless base cards from random sets that I highly doubt anyone ever wants to pick through.
Very disappointed.
EDIT: The store responded to my post, and took the time to go through my reviews and check my reviews of other shops? Very odd. What they failed to mention is that those reviews are from a number of years ago, back when AAA was the best card shop in town. Once Bob sold the store, the shop has only gone downhill since. Cluttered, overpriced, and not...
Read moreI don’t normally come here but it was on my way to home so I stopped in. I had looked around a bit and had about $200 worth of stuff guy was charging me around $242 for what I picked out. I put stuff back and get it to $217…. I try to negotiate to $200 bc he was a bit high on “comps” I realize comps isn’t gospel HOWEVER it is the universal baseline in which the card market can track and come to an agreement on a fair price…. Now $17 isn’t a ton to get bent out of shape about but I was negotiating in good faith to solidify some future business and everyone would walk away happy Hopefully with me spending $200 they’d be happy and I’d feel like I was getting a fair deal right?! WRONG! The lanky guy says “well if we had a card priced low you wouldn’t tell us, and pay us more for it” what a dumb thing to say! THIS ISNT MY SHOP, it’s not my job to price your card in a way for you to make you the most money…. It’s my gig as a collector to get the best price at the best deal I don’t work for you, my obligation isn’t to make you money. I put back a ton of stuff and spent $42 and definitely won’t be back! One stop sports in uptown is way better! Cooler vibe, younger crowd, and decent owners who want to make deals and do business for...
Read moreI looked back and saw I gave this shop a 5 star review a few years ago. It certainly was with bob and Linda there. Now the last 3 times I went there is zero inventory including no packs, boxes and supplies are hit or miss. I guess the only reason you would go there now is to buy overpriced singles that you can get for half the price on eBay with free shipping. I never knew the current owner before he bought this shop but his attitude is one of being a cocky impersonal industry expert. The guys that help out that were there when bob and Linda were there are still friendly but it’s sad where this shop has went. I’ll stick to eBay and Amazon. Even if I have to pay a little bit more for supplies at least I know I’m not wasting time and gas driving to the store to hear we don’t have top loaders. A sports card shop out of top loaders? That never happened when bob and Linda were there. 2 stars solely because I’ve always liked the guys that...
