Kamaaina Loan — Local services in Maui

The owner is NOT A MAN OF HIS WORD. I've sold him a few things over the years but when I took a loan then asked to convert to a sale the next day he said, "yes, and I'll give u more money for the sale". But when I went in he said," u can convert but I can't give u more." Then when asked to let me buy back the earrings he loaned me for $50. He said, "for $300" his excuse was that his employees write "whatever" on the receipts. Evil are the hearts of men. Just to clarify...I had sold some items and he gave me a loan on a bracelet and earrings. I called within 24 hours asking to convert the loan to a sale to which he said, "no problem..come in Sunday and we can do the paperwork and I'll even give u more $.for the sale" When I arrived Sunday, he told me he could convert it to a sale but he had already given me all he could with the loan. The receipt I had stated that I received $50 for the earrings which I then asked to buy back since he would not honor what he had told me over the phone. He then said that he would sell them back to me for $300. When I complained he said that the $50 written on the receipt wasn't correct because his employees write whatever. Such a lie. And then to try to charge me $300 for something he gave me $50 for just adds to his dishonesty, he is not to be trusted. I get he is in the business to make money, and he has made money off me quite a few times, even this time as I sold him some items besides what I got the loan on. He owes me in my mind because we had a verbal agreement that he would give me more money to convert the loan to a sale then in person, with no exanantion, he says he cannot. That is what I would call a ripoff. I changed it to a 3. I ended up paying the $300 interest and getting my jewelery back, but was still unhappy so he asked what he could do and I said he could give me $50...

If I could keep this star and not give this guy the satisfaction of a star I would. He is a shark! I went in there with a $3,500 ring and he said that he didn't want to go above $700 then said sure $1000. Fortunately I didn't have to take the offer. So this week I thought maybe I would get rid of the ring and he said $400. FOR A $3,500 ring perfect clarity and shape. He even admitted the worth. I guess when you are only in the business to swindle and take advantage of people that's what you do. I did want to see if maybe I was the one who was taking this the wrong way, and I went to other dealers. When I told them that I went to this creep, they both (I went to two more shops) were like "Oh God NO DON'T GO TO HIM!" The other smiled and said "unfortunately some people are here only to help themselves, not their neighbor." So I did get very fair offers at Treasure Imports (their staff is top notch and very kind) and also from First National Pawn I think the lady I spoke with is Brady, and she sent me to Treasure Imports. I will be for sure giving them as many stars and recommendations as possible. This guy say he's in the ocean on Saturdays and Sundays, one can only hope he meets up with a shark like him! I went to this pawn shop for pawn sterling silver necklace & a brand new sealed digital car camera set ... and the pawn shop owner appraised my stuff for $15 max - sold or on loan ... 🤔 What the hell ... I could sell for 10x their appraisal!!! What a bunch of money grubbers !!!!!! I don't recommend this store !!! Go there & be robbed of your properties ... They are carpet baggers & highway robbers ...!!!

Buying the old or somewhat fine quality merchandise is fine, but inspect them totally .. May try to sell you junk at high inflated pawn shops prices like Pawn Stars - buy cheap & sell very high prices for even low quality stuff ...

their prices are okay but too high on some things like Hawai'ian artifacts, etc, especially Ukuleles, guitars, electric guitars, etc ..

Same underhand pricing tactics like California pawn shops do .. Arizona pawn shops are more popular & better appraisers of used merchandise of good values ...!!! Miss Arizona pawn shops compared to money grubbers Hawai'ian pawn shops like the the above ...

Will never try to sell valuables or electronics, etc, here ... Buy merchandise only. Never sell anything of big value here ... You will be very disappointed, my friend ... you were warned !!!
