Maui's Angels Destination Weddings and Events — Local services in Maui

Maui’s Angels are Heaven sent (sorry, couldn’t resist). My wife and I are from Northern California and decided to have a destination wedding in Maui. We don’t have friends or family that are local to the Maui area so we scoured Google, Yelp, The Knot, Wedding Wire, individual wedding planner websites, as well as several bridal magazines in search of a wedding planner. We wound up speaking with several wedding planners, but in the end there was only one choice for us – Maui’s Angels.

The whole team at Maui’s Angels was wonderful to work with. They were all very sweet, always calm and eager to assist in any way that they could, patient, great communicators, and accommodating; they made the process as easy as it could be.

Lorrie Betsill Nielsen was amazing throughout the entire process. She is one of the nicest people out there and her love of, and passion for, planning weddings is evidenced through the genuine enthusiasm and happiness that she exuded whenever we spoke with her, whether it was in-person, phone, or e-mail. To quote my wife, “Lorrie is someone who we would actually hang out with in real life…”

In addition to her sparkling personality, she KNOWS how to plan and deliver an amazing wedding. What our guests keep telling us (not to mention our wedding wait staff , bar tender, and caterer) that our wedding was the best wedding that they had ever been to – that had a lot to do with Lorrie’s, and her team, effort to make our day nothing short of excellent. She has an amazing aesthetic, great sense of matching style for the type of wedding you want, and seems to know and have a great working relationship with all of the major wedding vendors in Maui.

Wedding planning can be stressful and tense, as any bride (and involved husband) knows. Lorrie was always upbeat, calm, and able to solve any problems that arose. For example, our booked wedding venue was involved in a land dispute with the State of Hawaii, and there was an injunction preventing weddings to be performed on the site. Lorrie calmly called us and explained the situation. Initially, we panicked, however Lorrie, with her cool and calm demeanor put our anxieties aside when she let us know that she was able to get us the venue that had been our first choice (but which we were unable to book initially because the venue has a monthly event cap that had already been met) by working her magic.

We were pleased with all of the vendors they suggested, and the vendors we chose through Maui’s Angels exceeded our expectations. We wound up having 30 guests more than we had originally planned for, and once again Lorrie cheerfully told us, “the more, the better,” and took care of it seamlessly. We had also rented a car that was to be delivered by the vendor, who was located on the other side of the island. I received a call from the vendor a few days before our big day and was informed he could not deliver the car in the morning as promised, but instead in the afternoon. I called Maui’s Angels and informed them of the issue, and again I was cheerfully and calmly told, “we’ll handle it and get back to you.” They ended up handling it by personally going to the vendor to pick up the car, and delivering it to me. They bend over backwards to make things perfect on your wedding day.

One of our worries throughout the wedding planning process was that our Flower Girl, our 5-year-old niece who is really shy, would get stage fright and not be able to perform – she refused to perform at our rehearsal. Maui’s Angel, Jordan, promised everything would be okay, and that she would take care of it. Good luck, we thought. Jordan was able to coax our niece into doing a great job, which we were very happy about.

After our wedding was done, Lorrie contacted us to see how we were doing; how sweet is that? She really cares about her clients and is very personable. She helped make planning easy, and made our day amazing and...

We love these girls! Before I dive into all the things Lorrie and her amazing team did for us, let me just say we can't express thoroughly enough how much we treasured and appreciated all their hard work. Ok, if you are getting married on Maui, you HAVE TO use Maui's Angels. You'll be making a huge mistake if you don't. From the first moment we were in contact with Maui's Angels they were in total sync with us and our planning process. Lorrie was the first to chat with us, and she did so during an incredibly busy time of year! She made me feel at ease and comfortable planning a destination wedding. Together, we looked around to all different venues and landed on one in Lahaina. We loved it! With "check in" emails, and introductions to the rest of the Maui's Angels team, we were now working with Nicole on our vendors. Usually, this can be a long, stressful process meeting with different vendors for the bride and groom to weed out alone to see if they're a good fit. But Nicole gave us a few of their favorite and most professional vendors to choose from and helped us by answering all sorts of questions. We chose our vendors, and they were absolutely amazing! She's amazing! After we worked with Jes on decor. Jes sat down with us via phone conversation for over 2 hours and sorted through my Pinterest account and was totally in sync with my vision. Jes has such an eye for decor and is so fun to work with! Over the last few months before our wedding we were met with friendly emails and phone calls. Any "bump" we ran into during the process, Lorrie was already LEAPS ahead of fixing the issue, and had it locked down before we had even realized something happened. The professionalism and preparation of Maui's Angels is a true testament of what they represent as a team. Each time we spoke, the voices on the other end of the phone were upbeat, ready to take on ANY task, and were just as excited for our wedding as we were. Lorrie and her girls have such a well run company, I was so amazed at how incredible their team was that I wanted to work for them! LOL! The day before the wedding, Lorrie came down to the condos the wedding party was staying at and ran through last minute details for the wedding. I mean, what?! Lorrie, you are a superstar! No, better...you are seriously an "Angel!" I felt totally taken care of and loved every minute of our wedding and the process. We could keep going on and on, but at the end of the day, throughout all our decisions in this process, this was THE best...

Lorrie and her team at Maui’s Angels were my guardian angels during my entire wedding planning process. From selecting a venue to a huge hug after the ceremony, these ladies exceeded my expectations! There are so many great features about working with Maui’s Angels, but one that made things that much easier on planning a destination wedding is their list of experienced and proven vendors. This simply remove the guess work, they know exactly what you’re getting and ensure you understand. Every single vendor was booked through their team; hair, make-up, band, minister, photographer, florals, cupcakes, catering, venue, rentals, etc. They couldn’t have made the process easier for me. All I had to do was relay my selections to them and they handled the rest. I didn’t even need to worry about different payments or who needed to be paid when. Maui’s Angels team handles this part as well and lets you know when payments are due.

Danielle the Design and Décor Specialist was a joy to work with! Her enthusiasm exuded through the phone and she was excited to come up with a design around my theme. She was at the wedding venue early and ensured everything looked amazing and as we had discussed.

Marnie was our wonderful side kick throughout the wedding, not once was she not at my side when I needed something, already anticipating what she could do to help. Getting all the family pictures can be tiring and a bit stressful but Marnie was there holding drinks for us with straws to sip on between takes and not interfere with my make-up. Having them there let me relax and enjoy the day while they took care of everything!

Lorrie is a true professional and loves what she does. I don’t remember seeing her during the wedding without a smile on her face. Her positivity shines through as she keeps a calm and cool demeanor to help you keep your nerves in check through the day of. During the planning process, Lorrie graciously handled all of my silly questions with professionalism and politeness. She truly know the ins/outs of a wedding on Maui and can help guide you into the wedding of your dreams.
