Moonblast is hands down one of my favorite shops in the Valley, and I think it’s important to share my experience because I noticed some recent negative reviews that don’t reflect what this store is really like. If you read them closely, they all come from one isolated incident where someone was upset about a pricing mistake, and then friends piled on with similar complaints. My visits here have been nothing but positive, and it’s clear from the long history of reviews that this place is usually loved for its atmosphere, staff, and community.

On my last visit, I found the most adorable Bonsly plush that my daughter instantly claimed as her own 🥰. I also picked up Spy x Family, Pokémon, Disney Princesses, and One Piece pens which were perfect little gifts for friends and family. My sister bought a Ditto Bulbasaur keychain plushy, which I now keep on my diaper bag, and I get compliments on it all the time.

The staff here are always kind, the shop is clean and welcoming, and the selection is huge. It ranges from trading cards to plushies to collectibles. They also host tournaments and create a fun, lively space for the community. This isn’t just a store, it’s a place people come back to because of the experience.

So I’m an Yu-Gi-Oh player/collector. I grew up with the game and since it’s the 25th Anniversary, I wanted to get back into collecting the newer sets that are being released this year. I’ve never been to local card shops or bought cards/boxes since I was a kid. So this is my first time and experience with this community.

I had bought 2 Stampede Boxes for $125 each and I purchased them almost a week apart from each other. The second purchase I’m talking about was yesterday. Today I go in and they raised the price to $150. I asked why and I was told “the boxes were being sold at the wrong price”. So for over a week the boxes were sold at the wrong price and it was just noticed now?

I didn’t think of it too much because I went in to look at the single packs. I did mention excitedly to the employee helping me how I had purchased two of those boxes & the Battle of legends box from somewhere else and I was told “I wouldn’t say that too loud if I was you.” Then I looked to my side and people were looking at me with annoyance.

Is the card community toxic/judgmental?? It’s crazy because the day before when I bought the 2nd stampede box (for $125) I talked to a different employee excitedly about my pulls and I was met with great energy. It made me excited to go back but now with this experience I’m confused about the vibe the card community brings and If I really want to get back...

Terrible ownership/management. They have cards labeled at a specific price and when you try to buy them they check if they've gone up in price and then charge you more than what they had it labeled at. They wouldn't admit their faults nor even offer a small discounted price for their own mistakes. Extremely unprofessional organization. Would not recommend going there. They lost a good customer over greed. They should've accepted their fault but instead at the end they refused to even sell me the card even if I offered them their asking price. Don't support corrupt greedy businesses like this. The right thing to do would to have honored their sticker price and talent the loss or at LEAST offered a small discount for...
