If you're looking for somebody to smile and be a slick salesman, Dana Watkins (the owner) is the guy to take your call and you will have a very good experience while meeting with him and giving him your credit card to swipe. He will text you and return you calls within minutes before you give him the credit card number, after he has the money, a different story. If you speak with him on ANYTHING or he promises you ANYTHING, ensure and triple check that it makes it into the contract. Whatever he tells you on the phone without it being written in a contract, regardless of what he tells you on the phone, it will be a lie.
If you need somebody to show up 30 minutes after the agreed time at the cemetery, if you want the family to sit there watching your loved ones in a coffin without a priest or anybody directing the services, if you need the wrong religious denominations person to show up (like a Baptist Pastor instead of a Catholic Priest), if you don't want the flowers to be provided when they are promised, and if all these thing above happen and you don't want anybody to answer your calls or texts (during or after the events), or even let you know things are not on track or on time, then please have my blessing and go with Dana Watkins Funeral Home in McDonough.
I should have taken a clue from the Willie Watkins' webpage (well respected Atlanta Funeral Home and Service)which specifically separates themselves themselves from any Watkins Funeral Home in the area (including Dana's who is related to Willie), exact quote from their site, "Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home is NOT AFFILIATED with any other funeral homes with the name Watkins", must be a strong reason to explicitly spell that out.....I found out why that is by having my uncle's services done by Dana's funeral home.
Mr.Watkins' employee and his wife (Mrs.Watkins) were very sympathetic in regards to my complains when I initially spoke with them on the phone (same day of service) in regards to the lack of service and apologized profusely several times, while ensuring me that Dana Watkins would contract me back. I attempted several time to contact Dana Watkins in order to resolve the issues or simply understand why such bad service and horrible communication, eventually was basically told by Dana he did not want to speak with me and take up else where.
I hope if nothing else this review at least helps somebody in any future dealings with Dana Watkins or his funeral home during the grieving times and funeral planning. I wish I could say I had explanations for any of the undelivered services and horrible communications above, but I have received zero explanation on why the "dead cold" treatment to somebody who dished out several hundreds of dollars for the service. Feel free to contact me in regards to any additional details, I am open book to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile my family appreciates the service Watkins provided, they were rude and unsympathetic towards my family during our time of grief. PLEASE do not highlight being sympathetic when the workers fail to exhibit this notion. One of the staff members had the audacity to argue with one of my family members regarding parking, even tho there were no other funerals scheduled that day. They also hassled our family to leave the home in a short amount of time even tho, AGAIN, there were no other funerals scheduled that day.
In the future, I would recommend at least pretending to have some type of sympathy while their customers are grieving. In addition, I would also recommend processing reviews with dignity and integrity and not taking them personally. If you want to ensure positive reviews, treat your customers with positive service at all times.
Furthermore, I noticed that a fake review was posted, after my initial review that was posted earlier, that is clearly biased and based on information that only one of the members of the funeral home was privy to (as she was the only one that knew about assisting with breaking down the tent). Please stop lying and stop posting fake reviews! HOW DARE YOU CREATE A FAKE NAME (Jamee Waller) and act as if you were my cousinās friend. MY COUSIN DID NOT HAVE ANY FRIENDS NAMED JAMEE WALLER, NOR DID ANYONE BY THAT NAME ATTEND HER FUNERAL! I know EXACTLY who this is working at the funeral home that created this fake review...and please believe you will reap what you sow for flat out lying and lying on my cousinās name! How tactless and classless can you be?! Accept the fact that all of your customers will not be happy with your service 100% of the time, and act with some decency and integrity! My post was the truth, and I merely expressed THE TRUTH and what other members of my family...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis funeral home did a fantastic job with my friend's homegoing service Lachunda Vaughn. The presentation was impeccable. I originally joined the zoom video call as I thought I would not arrive on time for the service. However, I decided to go ahead and travel to the funeral home, and to my surprise, the service hadn't started. The funeral home staff was very sympathetic and waiting patiently in the lobby, awaiting the arrival of all the family members, which is something I have never seen done before. After the service was delayed 40 minutes, a repast was still held in the parking lot for us, and they even helped break down equipment in the rain so that we wouldn't have to. I would recommend this funeral home to all my loved ones and friends as the professionalism was unmatched despite all the challenges...
