I’ve been here multiple times and usually its a great experience. I’ll be honest the food is pretty good and matches the coat which is avg $8-$14 a plate but today on a Saturday Summer afternoon, we went around 1230 and everything was fine until we went to pay the check. We had estimated it to be about $25 with tax and tip. It was $37. The reason as we discovered was because we had ordered one lunch meal that comes with 2 sides and bread included in the cost. We had asked if one of the 2 sides could be pancake and 1 eggs. The waitress stated she cod do that. Apparently there is an additional cost for certain breakfast items outside of the lunch menu even though it is breakfast served all day (all breakfast items). We would have probably been fine with an additional cost to add pancakes but it was the fact that she didn’t even mention there would be an additional cost that is the same price as buying it as an individual item (not upcharged like upgrading from reg mashed potatoes to loaded for example.) and then, since the pancakes were charged as a while other menu item, I still should have gotten 1 more side to my lunch entree that’s included but that didnt happen either so was she replacing my side with a pancake or not? My issue is the lack of communication from the serve to us. I know server’s sometimes get told off by customers for telling then things that the customer states they already know and it was the like she was rude but in my role at my job I still choose to educate consumers even if it doesn’t seem necessary and I wished she had given the same consideration especially because we were polite about it but a lot of other people would have been mad that there was a $12 difference in the bill which would also impact the tip amount. For us, it was oh well. But it was easily avoidable.
Anyway, Im not saying dont go here, Im just saying make sure to ask questions before finalizing your orders because you can’t expect the staff not keep...
Read moreQuaint, downtown meat and three restaurant with daily specials. It's a smallish, downtown establishment that definitely has a local rush at lunch and dinner. Get there early or late if you don't want to wait.
The food is good. It is your typical southern style country cooking. Nothing amazing, nothing particularly bad either. The service at the table was also nice. Waitresses were polite and food arrived in a timely manner.
The few negatives that keep it from being a fine star review? The atmosphere. If you're there at peak meal time, it's loud, cramped, and well, loud. People are standing at the register to either pay or order take out, and that line snakes through the middle of the restaurant which is littered with tables all surrounded by booths along the walls. It's tight.
Also, please don't sit at a table until they clean it. They have a sign to that effect. I get it. It's hard to bus a table with people sitting at it, but I also see the flip side as there are a lot of people waiting in an already crowded space for an open table. I witnessed two separate parties get talked to by a waitress for trying to sit a recently vacated table.
Lastly, they add a 20% gratuity to parties of five or more. That's not even a "party." And they don't tell you until you arrive at the register. It seems deceptive and I didn't like.
Over all, if I was in the area, I'd eat there again if I was in the mood for this kind of food. It's homey and you feel like a local. Just beat the rush and whatever you do, don't try and snake a...
Read moreI had a really unfortunate experience here. I called in an order around 10:30 AM for breakfast. They said it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I can hear a lot of background noise over the phone so I figured they were busy, thus I arrived around 11 AM to pick my order up. After going to the take out area, they said it’d be around 10 more minutes. I then sat in the front for another 30 minutes, at this point it’s be an hour since I’ve placed my order. The host was little help, he directed me to check periodically to see if the food would be ready. After checking again at 11:30 the cashier said it was almost ready. I waited another 10 minutes, until a waitress ended up taking my order stating that since my initial order was placed so long ago they likely threw it out (which doesn’t make sense as I was told it was being worked on twice). She was extremely rude taking my order, she seemed aggravated by me. She was able to have it rushed, it was made in about 5 minutes. I was given my take out order with a missing item (cheese grits) missing. The most disappointing part of the experience was the manager’s complete disregard of the situation. Him and I made eye contact several times after he was made aware of the situation and he never even simply acknowledged me. I noticed a server explaining how I was waiting for a while and he literally shrugged it off. I don’t leave reviews or feedback often, but I will never be visiting this...
