Need a wine? GO SEE LAURA. I've always gotten good help from all the staff at the McHenry location, but as a wine drinker, Laura is the one I look for, ask for, and sometimes wait around un-creepily until she's off her break, so I can get great recommendations.

Laura is the type of wine expert who loves all aspects and completely nerds out on wine. Example: I walk in with the intention of getting a case (12) - some for me, some for Christmas gifts, a few for a raffle. Laura asks if I need help, I tell her what I'm trying to do, she asks a couple of questions, and we're off. She shows me great alternatives to what I typically drink that are delicious. She can tell where the wine comes from, what the grapes grow in, the climate, a brief history of the winemakers. I stand back, enthralled, thinking, "oh, she's so knowledgeable and I AM HERE FOR IT!!" She can give insider tips on what's on sale/last of the case/great value. She recommended me to my first Tinta Azul.

My husband, who is simply the best, heard me lamenting the fact I had no wine left. Knowing I had I long day and would really love a glass of pinot grigio, he went to Binny's. He was looking at two different bottles that were in the cooler - one for $5 and one for $20, and he said "Laura, I need your help! Is this $5 bottle any good?" She said NO and took him to find a good $10-12 bottle, off the shelves, saying "we'll use the wine chiller." I mean, COME ON. Problem solver!!!!

If I could leave a lesser star, I would.. I went in at 9am on 09/03/2021. I am a Jack Daniels collector and asked about the new 10 year bottle that has been released. An older woman just stood their counting money in a stern tone without even looking at me. “We don’t have it” I asked her nicely, do you know when you will get it? Because I’ve spoken to Jack and said they check your local retailing locations. In an annoying and mocking tone she says to me “Oh yeah!? Did you talk to Jack? Cus’ if you didn’t know, he’s been dead for a long time!?” Then proceeded to laugh in my face. When I tried speaking she cut me off. I’ve never been treated poorly here. This morning, I received rude service. I promise, I will never use your place ever again for my purchases. You’ll be damn sure, everyone I know, does Not as well....

Talked to a nice gentleman outside about grabbing a handful of boxes. I had shopped here before, and wanted to go somewhere I knew. The man said "sure", I walk inside pick up three boxes and announce I am taking these boxes. Unfortunately, the lady behind the register, is strangely protective of these boxes, and goes out of her way to make sure I do not take these "boxes for customers." I look at my three boxes. I look at the lady on a power trip, who has now walked all the way over to me...and then turn to see a mountain of empty boxes. I was going to buy something, but now I don't want to exchange anymore words with someone dead set on keeping empty boxes.
