FYE — Local services in Melbourne

Mixed bag here.

The good - Despite the other reviews complaining about staff, I've always found them to be pleasant and kind. Never an issue there. They have a shockingly good vinyl selection and kind of neat little chachkis all over the place that are fun.

The bad - Their prices are outrageous for so many items. Vinyl seems to be pretty on par with everything around, although FYE is ALWAYS on the higher side. There are no real deals to be had throughout the store. Everything is eye roll inducing expensive.

The ugly - typical modern day corporation desperate to get your information and get you onto their email listings and magazine subscriptions and blah blah blah. This is a trend that I really wish would stop. If I wanted to get a magazine, I'd just buy one. I don't want to be sold on the idea of getting one more thing when I just spent an outrageous amount on other stuff in store.

If they would bring their prices down to a more competitive level and do away with the begging of information, FYE and stores like it would stand the test of time a lot longer. I'm afraid this kind of experience drives people right into the arms of Amazon and eBay and out of the physical brick and mortar type stores and it really is a shame because it is fun to get out and shop and browse at a...

They have a lot of fun imported gifts. Found some Japanese things for my daughters. Some instrument that they found on YouTube. But one of the cashiers is pretty rude and not very good at customer service. we had two empty drink cups that I needed to get out of my hands while I was in line I was looking at the products right next to the line and saw she had a trashcan there so I tried to throw them away in there and she wouldn’t let me use the trashcan behind the counter even though the cups were touching the trash already and told me to go way out in the mall and throw them away. I’ve never had a cashier not want to help me dispose of my trash while I’m a customer in their store in my 43 years of shopping. It was that light brown wavy haired gen Z female, with a little shiny nose piercing. Looking like she was suffering through life. Maybe a bit of retraining...

Recently I’ve just started a vinyl collection so, I went to fye to purchase a vinyl, when I got it and took it home it was scratched and couldn’t play a single song, so I took it back, however the dude who sold me the vinyl didn’t give me a receite so the best they could do was give me a gift card, after waiting a week for them to restock the Vinyls I went and bought another one, took it home and this one was worse then the other one I had purchased with even more scratches and even had a dent in it, so again I had to return it, after returning it they said I had to wait 5 business days to get my money back, and there is no way to check if what u bought is scratched or not cause they sell it in a plastic cover that u can’t remove.overall very negative experience and I don’t think I will be purchasing anything...
