Urban Country Outfitters in the Melbourne, Fl. Mall. I bought a pair of boots, a maroon long sleeved Ariat button up shirt. I asked one of the two employees how much the shirt was, there was a tall employee with long hair, and a short one with short hair. I did not get names. The short one is the one I asked, he said $59.99. Wife searched online and that is what it cost. Upon checking out and walking out of the store, I reviewed the receipt. The shirt that cost $59.99 was actually $149.99. I went back to the store to clarify this. The two employees were near the register. I asked why the $60 shirt cost $150. The employee who originally said $59.99 said because of “Taxes” the other employee said because of “Tariffs”, and that the Ariat factory was shut down for six months. Even the boots were over priced, but I didn’t argue that.

How does $59.99 end up being $149.99 even with taxes and tariffs? The tall employee with long hair said “We can exchange it for something else”. This hit my nerves. I told him I didn’t want any of the items and left the boots and shirt in the bag on the register counter, and that I would dispute the charges. Had they said “oh let us correct the charge to $59.99” there wouldn’t have been a problem. Instead they tried to make me “exchange” the shirt for another item equal to $149.99. If they do not return the money charged on my credit card there will be legal problems for them. I am in law enforcement, and do not recommend this store in particular. I did not disclose I was in law enforcement to the employees because I shouldn’t have to and don’t like using that to influence anything. I have done very few reviews over the course of many years for any company so this speaks volumes in my negative experience. The tall employee was already pushy as it was trying to make a sale, but I let that be because I was already going to purchase boots. The dishonesty, and lack of integrity to correct a problem they created sealed the deal. I will never step foot in this store again.

Seeing as im not the only one experiencing “tariffs” maybe an investigation into price gouging and or theft/fraud by deception should be conducted.

Walked in here for the first time yesterday. I was looking at a pair of Ariat shoes. I have a lot of ariat shoes in clothing and was excited for another local place that carries that brand. I asked how much these shoes were, and the woman said $144. She immediately continued the conversation and said well it's $144 for the tariffs, and they aren't producing any more items. I continued shopping and said, "How is it because of the tariffs if they aren't made in China?" She goes" Vietnam". I shrugged it off and walked out. I immediately went onto ariats site and the same shoes were $69. I'll definitely never be back and will stick to online retailers and Byrds...
