Well, cutie and I stopped by to give ole Buddies Pub & Grill a shot as we had been wanting to try a new spot.
Right off the bat, I must say, the inside is gorgeous and do wish the outside reflected the interior, as it lacks some curb appeal. However, once entering this place, it opens up into something quite lovely. Very spacious and cozy, the atmosphere was super calming with phenomenal hospitality.
Our waiter, Josh, was tremendous. Such a friendly guy and exceptional waiter. He walked us through some menu options, as it was our first time, and we appreciated his kindness. He sold me on the regular-sized wet burrito. Now this thing was anything but regular-sized as it was gargantuan. But, more on that later. Cutie got the patty melt, one of her favorites.
However, before all that, for an appetizer, we got the lobster rangoons, and my, my, they were incredible and oh so edible. We loved the sauce on them as it was sweet and not too hot.
Now to the main course, my burrito, as mentioned was MASSIVE! It was the beef option and it was loaded with cheese, meat, and veggies. Loved the seasoning on the beef, and the portion size was legendary. Every bite had some fresh crunchy veggies to accompany the meaty, creamy, and cheesiness. Cutie got two meals out of her delicious melt, by the way, she loved the fries too. I also was able to get two scrumptious meals out of my burrito.
All in all, we will be back to try more awesome menu options and enjoy the welcoming staff! Again, shoutout to Josh for being awesome! The pricing on the menu options was great too! We plan to see you fine people again!...
Read moreAttempted to order online. Site returned "We are not accepting online orders... feel free to browse our menu." It's a menu that requires you click on an item to find out what modifications and sides are available with it. So, we went through the whole thing, wrote everything down and I went there. I told them I wanted to place an order and nurse some iced tea while I waited. I was shown to a high top. Arrived at 7:26 and was seated. It looked busy, so I waited. A waitress asked if I had checked on my order. (The same one who seated me), I informed her that I had not ordered yet. I waited some more. A waiter stopped and asked me if I had been helped yet. I told him no. I waited some more. The same waiter stopped again. This time it was established that nobody was going to wait on me, and proceeded to herd me to the bar. Sign at the bar for pickup. Nothing else. I told him that I would find another place to order from. I left at 8:19. Called home, received a different list for The Watershed only to find that the kitchen was closed when I got there. Finally went to Culvers with a third list. Hour and forty five minutes for a hamburger, fries, onion rings and two shakes. Probably not...
Read moreFirst time at this watering hole. Non-pretentious older school pub. Very decent food, although portion size is way too big. Next to a selection of mass produced beer, Buddies had two nice local crafts on tap. Was there a TV sale somewhere? Every inch of the wall is occupied. Would we come back? For sure. Low key pub added to our list. Update: Glad to report back that Buddies is consistently good. Menu is exciting, service impeccable, and a good crowd. Maybe a fish dish? Also, these styrofoam boxes for leftovers. Not so cool. But you can't get everything. Otherwise great!
Update: Nov '23. Good service as before, kitchen not as good. Ordered my favorite, Greek gyros in wrap, which came luke warm and lacked the sauce (tzaziki) but with prefab strips of a meat-product. After 5 minutes my wife got the attention of our server, food came back 10 mins later, hot (good), with a side of sour cream, with onions and pickles mixed in. Good improv. Meh. Target missed. The kids did not finish their shared quesadilla, the veg flatbread was ok. Styrofoam...
