I like World Market. I've been to many locations around the country and not had bad experiences - BUT THIS MERIDIEN/BOISE LOCATION IS TERRIBLE. The management is so rude, unfriendly & unhelpful. Especially Marguerite, who I've had to deal with more than once. I've come in to make returns a couple times and have been treated like I was a huge inconvenience. The internet on my phone wasn't working so I was having difficulty pulling up my orders. I asked if they could look it up through my credit card (ending in 03) and they said yes. I gave them my card and they said they couldn't find the purchase. I knew 100% that I purchased it on that card but gave them my ONLY other card to try. Nope. Finally my phone was working. Problem solved, but apparently I had an "online exclusive" item. Marguerite seemed so put off to have to call it in for me so that I could return it there. So for my second return attempt yesterday, I made sure to have my receipts printed out. Now they ask me for my card ending in 03 to make the return. Well, I don't have it because I thought I didn't need it because according to them that's not even the card I used to make these purchases. I have the receipts, my driver's license. Nope, can't help you. And Marguerite says this without an ounce of friendliness or being apologetic at all. Just, nope. So I toss this giant wall art back in my cart and leave. And I do not live in Meridien so this is not a convenient trip for me. I'm in the process of decorating my place basically from scratch, but I will be returning everything I've purchased from World Market in the last 60 days - I don't want to see items around my house that remind me of how rudely I was treated. So, I'll be back, for the last time - with my receipts printed out, my credit card, ID... and a whole bunch of stuff to return. UPDATE - Went in Saturday AM to complete returns and was helped by a polite younger gentlemen as well as a different female manager. Both were friendly and helpful. I think there may be a few bad apples at this location - but it looks like the weekend crew was on their game. Also, I'm a bit confused because another reviewer said all they needed was their order number to complete their return? Was Marguerite just giving me a hard time, or is it really the case that you MUST have both your receipt AND the card you purchased with present?? If so, World Market should update their system to allow returns with receipts to automatically go back on your card even if it's not physically present - like many other...
Read moreHonestly just the worst customer service. We ordered a papasan online for in store pick up. I got an email that said it was ready so I went to the store to get it only to be told by the person up front that they did not have it. Here’s how the conversation went:
Me: I have this email saying it’s ready for pickup
Employee: that’s not what it says.
I show her the email in my phone that says in bold red print “COME GET YOUR ORDER!”
Employee: you’ll get an email confirming the order.
Me: I did. And then I got an email saying it’s ready.
Employee: that’s not what it says because the order isn’t ready.
Me: then how will I know when it’s really ready?
Employee: you’ll get an email that says it’s ready.
I’m not even exaggerating this conversation. Finally, she looks in the “back system” and sees that it actually is ready and grabs the items for me. When I get home, I realize I have a double papasan cushion, not a single like I ordered. So I called to let them know. Here’s how the conversation went:
Me: I got the wrong item for my in store pickup order. It’s supposed to be a single cushion but it’s a double.
Employee: we don’t even have double size in that color. Are you sure it’s not the right one?
Me: well, apparently you do because it’s sitting in my room and it’s the size of a double. It’s literally twice the size of a single.
Employee: well, we’re just going to have to place a raincheck for the single papasan because we don’t have it. And it will take two weeks to get here.
Me: I saw one on the floor when I was there.
Employee: we literally just checked and we don’t have any.
The level of condescension she used to talk to me was completely inappropriate. I placed a “raincheck” order but KNEW I saw a single papasan cushion. So my husband drove back and LO AND BEHOLD, a single papasan cushion in the color we ordered. So they just blatantly lied. They even argued with him, saying they might not be able to let him take the item because they didn’t know how it got in...
Read moreI’ve always loved this store since I was a kid, I shop here every year for Christmas presents and this year was a little more special because the Golden elf scavenger hunt. I invited my family to join me to go look for these gift cards and we spent two hours filling up our carts and searching for the Golden Elves. I saw a lady at one point with them in her hand after about an hour in and she had not even hid them despite the 50-60 people in the store hunting around. About 20mins later I heard that same lady telling some children to go look for them. After periodically checking the board to see if they’d been found I overheard the manager asking an employee if she hid another one yet to which she said yes and I was shocked. They aren’t putting them all out at the same time and hiding them, they are basically waiting till one is found to try to hide another one. It seems very rigged and that is sad. I may have never found one anyways but after seeing that I put my basket of things back and so did the people I came with.
