I grew up frequenting the Jaker's in Twin Falls, ID. We decided on Jaker's in Meridian tonight for our Valentine's dinner spot. We knew it was over an hour away from home, and the weather wasn't ideal, but having had nothing but great experiences at the Twin Falls restaurant, I thought there was no chance we could go wrong with our choice, and without a reservation , we made the drive. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately in the lounge being bluntly told "We're only seating walk-ins in the lounge tonight". The gal might as well thrown a teenager eye roll in with her inconvenienced attitude. Our waiter was quick to take our drink order and nailed my request for a hot chocolate adult beverage. So far so good (minus the bratty young gal at the door). Then, approximately 35 minutes later, nobody had stopped to take our order or check on us. I'm looking at the menu and it's gonna be $150 minimum for the meal, so friendly service is definitely something I expect. No ass kissing, we're not entitled, but it's the reason you go out to a fancy restaurant. So I take the 1st chance I get at someone walking by and let her know we're ready to order. This one was very friendly and walked right over to our server, who was within earshot and let him know we were ready to order. She was professional and respectful when she talked to him and was genuinely trying to help him out. Without hesitation he popped off to her "Oh I bet they are!", and was very snide with her in his tone. That's all it took for me to end the experience on the spot. To make his case he gives us a fake apology and then begins to give us excuses about how many tables he has. He had 4 tables, and two of them were almost finished. I paid attention for the 35 minutes we waited to order just to be sure he was actually busy, and the lounge wasn't even 3/4 full. Now I get it, everybody has a bad day once in awhile, but being too busy to serve a table is one thing, being rude and discourteous to a co-worker who was trying to help him is just foolish. We don't go out often, and we tip very well when we do. Our Valentine's routine is a fancy steak, and we always save a hundred dollar bill minimum for a tip, because we feel like waiters and waitresses deserve to be well paid for their service. All in all, next year were making the 4 hour drive to Twin Falls for Valentine's instead. The whole staff we interacted with tonight put off a vibe that they were just totally inconvenienced by all these people coming in to spend money in exchange for courteous service and a good meal, except for the one gal who attempted to deliver our message. We were just chilling, loving the hot chocolate drinks and excited about a big, fat, juicy ribeye and prime rib. Do better my guy. If you were having an off night, then ok. But I watched you walk around for a half hour, not busy at all, acting like you didn't want to be there. I don't think I've ever left a one star review before. He comped the drinks, but I insisted I'll pay for them. Then the fake apology came, and my girlfriend decided on the spot to take him up on his comp offer. I didn't even get half my hot chocolate peppermint adult beverage down the hatchđ Super bummed Jaker's in Meridian. I know this restaurant has a great reputation for providing above par service and fantastic food, but not tonight they didn't. I don't think we'll back unfortunately. Almost $50 for a steak is alot of money to spend to be treated like an...
Read moreSo, when I arrived at the Restaurant I was told there is a 15 minute wait. Since, I chose not to sit at the bar due to the higher chairs due to issues with my knees. I was given a call beeper. While waiting I went to use the restroom and noted an empty table and two more empty tables just needing to be cleaned. As I was waiting for my table two different parties came in and were immediately seated 15 minutes into my sitting there and waiting. Both groups had just pulled in and parked. I was seated. The waitress was nice and took my order. The waitress was the only staff that made me feel welcome. I ordered the Prime Rib Cheese Steak sandwich with clam chowder, and for an appetizer the Gorgonzola Fries. I received my appetizer and found that the Gorgonzola Fries were quite tasty. The fries were crisp and there was plenty of Gorgonzola cheese on it. I found the Clam Chowder was not very thick and I did not feel there was enough clams in it. When the sandwich came. The waitress who delivered it did not try to refill either my water or tea (She was not my waitress. ). The sandwich looked good in appearance. However, I found that it did not have much as far as onions and peppers and there was not really a lot of meat. A true Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich has a lot more meat, onions ands green peppers. I realize that this is a prime rib meat. But, it could have just a little more meat than what was there. In all I found that the sandwich with the soup not very filling. If I hadn't ordered the appetizer I would have still felt hungry. Finally, I did note the Manager walking around. However, I was never contacted about my visit . Which considering the caliber of what Jaker's is supposed to be. I found surprising since, I am always contacted about my visit at Texas Roadhouse, Tucano's, Brickyard,Olive Garden and the Ram. When I received my check. I was surprised to find that I was charged $2.00 for the Clam Chowder when the menu stated I could have soup, salad or a side. I'm also surprised that online prices are cheaper than eating in. The menu only gave a price of $17.95 with no full or half size. Whereas the online gave a full or half price. The half price was a dollar cheaper than what I was charged. All in all, I find that Jaker's needs to improve their customer experience and atmosphere of feeling welcome. Even in this Pandemic time people want to feel welcome. I also feel that they need to improve on what they serve as I did not feel as I was served enough. I mean I paid $17.95 for a sandwich that felt like it was the appetizer. And not a meal. The only reason I did not give them a 2 star rating was because the waitress was friendly and trying to make my...
Read moreNOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE- NOT WORTH THE MONEY-Today was my husbands and I birthday. I was very excited to take my family to Jakers for a nice dinner to celebrate. We made reservations in advance a 6 top. This dinner was a BIG DEAL as we only see each other once a year and this may be the last year for my father. We were greeted by a very nice young lady that was energetic. She seated us and this is where the trouble started. We arrived at 6:39. We had made reservations 2 weeks in advance. I was very excited to have the CAP steak and had been talking about it since we booked. We had 3 in the party who had never been to Jakers. As soon as we asked about the cap steak , "Oh we only get 3 to 5 of those a night and they are gone by 5:30!!" " You missed out." WHY EVEN HAVE THEM ON THE MENU!! Highly suggest you take them off the menu because you cannot get one and it is a let down if this is why you went to Jakers.. the melt in your mouth cap steak. AND when you tell someone they are gone.. Why not suggest your next best thing that IS on the menu. Jarod was our waiter. He coined the term for waiter.... YOU WAIT .. YOU WAIT.. YOU WAIT! He would come to the table and not come back for 20 min in between. We sat without water for 30 minutes. Our appetizer plates never even got picked up at all. 3 stacked dirty plates sat on the table the entire time. There was NO PERSONALITY it was like it was a CHORE TO WAIT on us not a pleasure to have us there. Someone else deliverer our food, and we never were checked on after that. It was like Jarod was at the North pole and we were at the south pole. I normally have something nice to say about a waiter, but I do not. I waited tables for 10 years and made sure to "create an experience" for my guests. We had 2 Milestone birthdays we were celebrating. My husband had never been to Jakers and he as we walked out he said, " I do not think I will ever return there." It was such a bummer. I normally do not do big things for my birthday as spend so much money, but this was a Big Day for my family. If you are looking for " an EXPERIENCE" with your dinner this is NOT the place. The service was very very poor. We are good tippers and did not feel as if we should have tipped at all. We can serve ourselves at home and make a decent steak.... you GO OUT for An EXPERIENCE. Jakers used to be my...
