I was not happy with our experience at El Gallo Giro. I was hoping to find some authentic street tacos and found this place locally. The pics look good, so we decided to give it a try. We were greeted when we walked in. Right when we sat down, our waitress asked if we wanted a side of guac with our chips and salsa that come with the table. We said sure, and she asked if we wanted it made at our table. We hadn't had a chance to look at the menu yet, so we agreed. She failed to tell us it would be a $10 charge, and we really didn't even want it. The kid who made it rolled up with a cart that had a huge "TIP" jar on it, but I didn't want to partake since I felt swindled from the start. The strawberry margarita I ordered was waaaay too sweet and probably didn't have any alcohol in it. It was $10. The price is not listed on the menu. Not trusting the establishment and having a huge bowl of guac to eat, I could only stomach a few street tacos. I ordered asada, fish and pollo. They were all lackluster, lacking in flavor and looked pitiful on the plate. The one hope for flavor/zest was dashed when I realized the limes on the plate had no juice. The menu prices are all different than what they charged us. They aren't huge differences, but it made me not trust them or want to come back. The three street tacos I ordered were supposed to be $5.95 total, but if you do the math off the receipt, they were $6.50 total. The menu also says the guac made at the table is supposed to be $9.95 (which is already ridiculous), but they charged me $10. And this was not including tax. My friend was satisfied with her taquitos, but she doesn't really eat out much. I think she was just trying to be nice. Like I said, I would not return. There are plenty other Mexican cuisine spots around here that I can give a try.

I was in the mood for some nachos so I thought I would give this place a shot. When it comes to nachos, I’ve become a connoisseur. First off, the menu for the nachos was not accurate. It did not list that it contained refried beans. So when I received my nachos I had to send it back since it contained almost entirely of beans. I also instructed for them to make sure my nachos were well done to ensure the cheese is thoroughly melted. To their credit, they did use real cheese and not cheese sauce which I always confirm before ordering any nachos. It didn’t come with jalapenos so I had to ask for them. Round two, no beans but they sure made up for the beans with a ton of lettuce. This was not nachos, it was more of a taco salad. The cheese was only partially melted and applied sparingly. I was going to send it back for the 2nd time but according to the server, they said they could not melt the cheese anymore. That being said I just kept it and struggled through it. To their credit, the cook did come out and followed up on the nachos. To his surprise, he was unaware that the beans were not listed under the menu what the nachos consisted of. There was only one server during the dinner hour, who double duties as the bartender. There was another employee but spoke no English. The ambiance was nice. I will give them the highest mark for active content on the television. It was on ESPN with MNF. In summary, these were not nachos. It was a taco salad. Better change the menu and call it a taco salad.

Where to begin... On my visit to Idaho, we were looking for a place to eat. As we were driving I saw El Gallo Giro (Now Open), and I decided to give it a try. Now, please understand that I like Mexican food, but I'm not a fan of it. As I left the establishment, all I can think of was "I ha e a feeling that this is not only the best Mexican food I've ever had, but quite possibly the best meal on a restaurant I've ever had. First of, their Guacamole, it is FRESH and made right in front of you. But in regards to the actual entree, you need to try the Compadre. Is like a strew that comes in the handcrafted clay bowl that contains, chicken, beef and shrimp. It includes, rice, refried beans and a salad. It is litterally to die for. And for the person that gave a 1 star review just saying that is "the whitest Mexican restaurant", I seriously don't know what you are talking about. Go visit them and be amazed. Photos included.

I've been to the new Eagle Road location 3 times. Two of those times I was very disappointed with the service and by the time I got my food it wasn't hot. The first time I went was with a group of about 20 people, even though we asked at the very beginning to get separate checks, they didn't and at the end of the meal they brought out the bill and a calculator so we could figure it out. That was a mess and took 30+ minutes just to figure out the bill and pay. The second time I went there was with a friend for lunch, and the service was great and the food was good. The last time was yesterday afternoon, it was not very busy, maybe 5 other tables with diners. It took about 30 minutes to get our food order taken and another 20 minutes to get the food. The waiter treated us like an inconvenience. When someone in our group (5 people) ordered a dish with ground beef, the waiter said only people who like bland, flavorless food order ground beef (although, no where on the menu does it list other meat options). By the time the food came I had filled up on chips and salsa because it took an hour to get our food. The food was luke warm. Then when we got our bills, my drink was on someone else's bill, and there was a 25% gratuity added to the total due. 25%! For poor service, long wait, and luke warm food. When we asked about it he said it is automatically added for groups. But we only had 5 people. It wasn't until one of our group mentioned the owner is a friend of theirs, that the server removed the automatic gratuity from our bills. I will not be...
