very poor customer service. went in the other day as I was on vacation in cocoa beach, and walked in, gentlemen sitting down at table asked if there was anything specific I was looking for, and I said I hadn't bought comics in over a year, and was mostly looking for Amazing Spider-Man he motioned behind him with his head and said they should be that way. Not thinking anything about it, but another customer came in asking for a Super Nintendo, the guy sitting at the table mentioned price. The customer than asked for a specific game, the guy stated their games were in alphabetical order, so the customer then stated "so it should be in the first 3 rows"? Then I guy standing behind the counter, that I hadn't even noticed started bad mouthing the customer for asking questions, stating that if he is too f'n lazy to look for himself, and other comments like that for about 2 minutes. I don't think it was loud enough for the customer asking the questions to hear, but definately loud enough that I heard. I could not believe an employee would bad mouth customers in that way. I had gone in looking to purchase maybe a year's worth of Amazing Spider-Man, depending on what was available. I had already at that point found 7 or 8 issues that I was planning on purchasing, but after I heard how they treated their customers, I put them back and walked out. I recommend that if you need help in what you are looking for you do not go to this store. From the other reviews, it looks like they are not very sociable to new customers. I gave it a 1 star, because it would not allow me to give it 0 stars, I wasn't satisfied with the service I received but it wasn't bad when I walked in, but to cuss under your breath at another customer is totally uncalled for. I have been collecting comics for 40 years, and been to many comic book stores, and I have never felt like I did in this store. I very rarely walk out of comic store without purchasing something, it might be a $1 back issue, but I do not like going into a new comic book store and not...
Read moreI normally don’t leave reviews, but my experience with island comics and cards was so disappointing that I feel obligated to warn others. This store has developed a reputation for misleading customers, lowballing trade-ins, and overcharging for inventory that isn’t worth the asking price. I’ve personally experienced shady business practices — prices suddenly changing, vague explanations about “market value,” and a total lack of transparency when it comes to trade or sale estimates. What’s worse, I’ve spoken with others in the community who’ve had similar issues involving false claims and unfair treatment. It’s frustrating when a place that should be fun for collectors instead takes advantage of its customers. There are plenty of honest, reputable shops out there that value integrity and fair pricing — this just isn’t one of them. Bottom line Don’t waste your hard-earned money or your vintage games here. If you’re looking to buy, sell, or trade retro items, take your business somewhere that actually respects...
Read moreI don’t get it. There are two guys that work the counter that are just straight up rude. I’ve been in the store like 5 times total, and 3 of those experiences were extremely off putting. I think I met the owner last weekend and he was the nicest guy ever. The other two guys that run the counter are curt, unfriendly, and it seems like they would rather be doing anything else. Today I asked to buy penny sleeves and top loaders(along with other items), and the guy at the counter said “we don’t sell them.” I bought top loaders from them last weekend… I pointed out that there were top loaders right behind him and he just side eyed me (didn’t even respond). If you walk into this store and either of these two guys are at the counter, prepare yourself for an unpleasant experience. You’re literally paying over market to get curt responses, an unfriendly demeanor, and overall bad vibes.
The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the owner was extremely down to earth and genuine when I was there...
