I was doing a retro video game road trip around Central Florida and bought a few games there on 5/9/22 and most of them worked wonderfully, however, there was one game that they had behind the counter (where the rare and expensive games are) and since I lived so far away, I decided to purchase it. I asked to see the disc to check its condition, but when I saw it, it was scratched and smudged. I then asked the gentleman behind the counter if he could test the game to make sure it worked before I spent so much money on it ($119.99). He told me that they had no way to test the games. I contemplated it for a but and decided that since it was such a rare game, I would buy it. I took the game home and popped it into my console, and low and behold, it DID NOT WORK. I called the store back and informed them, and I was told to just bring it back. I drove back up there (over an hour drive) and then found out that they would not give me a refund. They only take exchange or store credit only, which wasn't relayed to me until after my purchase. I told them that I would not be coming back since they were so far from me but they were adamant about their policy, even though the game was defective. Then what happened next sent me for a loop. They told me to give them the game and they would test it. That's right, they ARE able to test games. So I was LIED TO when I made my original purchase. Since they would not give me a refund, I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charge with them and they were able to refund me. The store was of no help at all. I left the defective game on the counter and left (and I'm certain that they put the defective game back on the shelf to be purchased by another unsuspecting customer). I will not shop at this store ever again. I refuse to give my money to liars. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Update: Based on their response it was all my fault. 🙄 I hope they go out...
Read moreI've only been here a couple times, the times that I've come in I've seen Joshua, the owner, in the games section. He's great, knowledgable and kind. I made a purchase for a console and some controllers. Unfortunately the controller was busted but I don't mind, they have a great 30 day warranty window.
The reason I'm reviewing this as a 1 star review is due to the gentleman who I believe is named Ronald. I was coming in to swap my slightly broken controllers. Ronald was helpful at first, he was quick to get me a replacement and process the return, maybe to a fault. I was there to return 2 items but he processed a return for only one before I managed to let him know the other item was unwanted as well, it was inconvenient for him to process another return so he was understandably visibly frustrated.
At this point, I get it. You deal with the public, it's hard, but then instead of just helping me out with the return, he had decided to confront me on why I didn't say something sooner. To be honest, it's my fault that I didn't tell him everything I needed help with, but at the same time I thought he might ask if the other stuff I brought was going to be returned to, in my head I didn't know he was already done with the transaction. Nonetheless, I apologized and owned up to causing an inconvenience for the worker.
That did not stop Ronald from continuing to be frustrated with me, confronting me again asking if I was hiding anything else I needed from me. It just made me uncomfortable. I brought 2 items, I was returning 2 items, all of it was uncalled for.
I wish I didn't have this experience so that I could continue to shop here, I'd like to support a local gaming business, but I just don't think I want to take the chance of working with anyone else...
Read moreGreat atmosphere. The staff were very engaging and friendly. This was my 2nd visit to this location within a few months. Wide variety of 3rd Gen games and beyond. The gentleman behind the counter indicated that they have an inventory of 2nd Gen games that haven't been brought out to the floor, yet, and I might come back in a few months to see if that happens. I was a bit disappointed to discover that most of the 3rd Gen titles I looked at were priced 25% to 50% over PriceCharting values, which themselves are obscenely inflated due to their flawed eBay sales scraping algorithm. (If PC says a game is worth $25, it is likely worth $10-$15. eBay B.I.N. prices are grossly inflated as well, which is why over 90% of B.I.N. listings get listed and relisted over and over and over again for months, if not years). Unfortunately, it appears as though this is yet another retro game store that relies on PC/eBay BIN prices to price their games. I cannot justify spending $200 on $130 worth of games. Hopefully, I'm wrong, and we'll see when I return. If the prices of the 2nd Gen games when they are stocked reflect true market value rather than PC/eBay BIN prices (or higher!), Ill be spending quite a bit of cash, and will adjust my...
