World Market — Local services in Metairie

Went in for the first time today. Walked around thinking this is absolutely my type of store. Picked up a few things but was mostly just browsing, trying to kill time. What really made me unable to fully enjoy my visit is that I was stalked by who I assume was the plain clothes Asset protection guy (having worked in retail previously). From the front of the store to the back and to the checkout line, he was never far. I had no bag with me and was wearing jeans, can't imagine why he felt he needed to follow me throughout the store. I get that he is only doing his job and stores need him. I'm just saying that I did nothing to deserve his stalking and it really actually made me nervous and unable to enjoy my visit. In fact, I felt compelled to buy something for fear that he may really think that I was stealing, if I left empty handed. Don't get me wrong, he never approached me or was inappropriate technically but the whole thing just put me off. Which is sad because as I said, the store really...

I wish this location was friendlier. Every time a call or come in I feel rushed or ignored as if my presence is intrusive to their day. I would say it's just cashiers or staff but the manager seems to not want to be bothered with people. I did NOT want to write this review but it has happened too many times. There is no patience or peace at this location. I am amazed it is still open. In this entire store I have only met 2-3 pleasant employees. If the negativity is at the top then it flows downward. And don't order something online. You may never hear from anyone. No explanation, confirmation or anything. I think I'll just stick to the Westbank store in Harvey, LA. BTW it's not made up because I have seen them treat others in that rushed, unpleasant...

I had a particularly excellent experience recently with the staff. I’d come to the store earlier just to browse and saw a display item on sale. I went home knowing I was going to get it, but had to borrow a larger vehicle to buy it and bring it home…I showed up 5 minutes before closing (terrible) and the staff went above and beyond to get the VERY heavy piece into the borrowed minivan. I’m really grateful to the staff- they were extremely polite/accommodating/engaging despite my purchase causing them to stay past closing. I’m really grateful and can’t recommend the Elmwood...
