Concerning store #7962 1624 E 5th Street Metropolis, IL 62960

I am a resident of Paducah Kentucky but was visiting Metropolis Illinois to pick up a few groceries before returning home. The time was right before two PM (2 PM) in the afternoon on Saturday, 2-17-2024. I had worked an eight hour shift in produce at my own job and was very tired but was running a personal errand in Metropolis. I have a medical condition that requires me to wear suspenders and not a belt. I wore black suspenders, a blue button-up shirt and some black slacks when I arrived at the store. The manager and staff (three people in total that I could see) were in the middle of some inside joke and were shooting comments back and forth. I didn't think much of it, it's pretty normal. I grabbed a loaf of bread and a can of the beef chili (I love Southgate Chili) and walked around the corner to another aisle. This one was occupied my a short female employee. I passed her and after I turned the aisle I overheard her getting the manager's attention and mentioning me and laughing. He whispered, "I know, I know.." I could't believe my ears. They were actually talking about me and weren't hiding the fact at all. I'm sure my face turned a little red because I felt flush with embarassment and a little anger. The manager passed me as I made my way to the register (to get a good look at me in my suspenders, I don't know and won't presume). As he did so he even had the gall to look at me laughing with mocking humor still in his eyes as he asked me how I was doing. It also felt ...possibly... race-related, as the staff was not diverse. and the environment was exceedingly pillorying. As if there was a very suggestive joke that only the staff were in on but purposefully loud enough for all patrons in the store to hear. That's just plain meanness. I was very uncomfortable and tried to leave as quickly as possible, forgetting most of the items I had planned to purchase. Look, I get it, I understand how life is. People talk about and joke about other people. I've done it, you've probably done it. But to be so bold as they were, as if their intention was for me to hear and bear the ridicule myself, in real-time. They just had the impudence and bad sense not to consider that I'd write an official complaint. I wouldn't have taken the time out to compose this complaint. I'm tired from work, I'm beat. I hope this isn't for nothing. Overall, it was an uncomfortable situation I don't plan to be in again. This is what I would consider unscrupulous behavior and I hope an investigation is made into the matter if for no other reason than the fact that if it has been done to me, it is probably being done to others, as well. And has been. I will not be returning to the Metropolis Dollar Tree store, but still plan on frequenting the ones closer to where I live. The ones in Paducah. Those are well-conducted stores, the employees diverse and...

Only reason I am giving this store this high of stars is because I love the items they have in there crafters corner. BUT I will not give the management any stars if it was possible I would give them a -9 just for the way the manager in this store is. She is rude and disrespectful and does not deserve to work here in my opinion . Because she acts like it's such a inconvenience just to ring you up and do her job. And for your sake make sure you take your own bags because in her words when I bought 4 bottled coffee's and I asked if she could please double bag it because she placed all 4 in the same bag, she said" well I guess I can do it this time but don't make it a habit because we do not double bag things here" and before I had a chance to say anything else to her she turned away and walked into her office and slammed the door shut.... In my own personal opinion if I can get out of having to ever go back into this store I will atleast while she is...

I was trying to get stuff for a funeral reception and the aisle I needed to be in had boxes and two employees working to put things away.
