The Lyric Theater, built in 1913, was a cornerstone of Miami's African American community. This 400-seat theater, owned and operated by Geder Walker, served as a cultural hub and entertainment center for decades. After falling into disrepair, the theater was restored and reopened in 2000 by the Black Archives, History and Research Foundation of South Florida. Very clean, nice security people. The one direction electric stairs are ALWAYS in the opposite direction where people needs them. I mean, going downstairs at 7am for example where EVERYONE living near needs the stairs to go UP because they are going to work.
