I warn anyone interested in looking at this building to consider other options. If you’re a realtor save your clients the headache, especially since they won’t work with you or offer commission.
We lived in Miami Plaza for 2 years, and were one of the first tenants to move in when they opened. We liked the nice finishes in the apartment, proximity to a Metromover station, and relatively good monthly rent price compared to alternatives in Edgewater, Downtown, and Brickell. But we quickly came to regret the decision to move into this building, and will never live in a Melo Group operated facility ever again.
Within a few weeks of living in the apartment we noticed a crack start to form on the sliding door window to our balcony. We informed the management several times, who promised it would be fixed soon. After two years, our window was never replaced. We gave up after management told us the replacement window was coming from Argentina, and then told us it was coming from China, and then finally told us Melo Group was prioritizing windows for their other new buildings in downtown.
The Management team in the lobby were okay but need a bit more training especially in the area of customer service. Some of the staff only speak Spanish which isn’t unusual for Miami, so keep that in mind when you need to ask for their help. We can’t commend the cleaning staff enough, they are the hardest working individuals in that building and often clean up after tenants.
On the note of the tenants, it was surprising to see the lack of care demonstrated by the people living there. Dog urine in the elevators/lobbies, cigarette butts in the pool, people smoking vapes in the elevators, reckless driving in the garage, marijuana smell in common areas, and loud music being played late in the evening. Good luck getting security to do anything about it.
We were given one parking spot, but we had two cars. When we moved in we were told we could pay a fee for a different parking space. All was fine until a few months in I had a notice of illegal parking sticker on my car window. I went to contest it and the parking company told me that they recently changed their terms and all additional vehicles needed to be done with valet. Not only do I not allow anyone else to drive my car, I hardly trust the valet company’s employees to drive my car with care after seeing how they drive other cars up and down the garage. It doesn’t help that there are also no cameras or mirrors at each intersection of the garage, and the turning radius is tight even for a regular-sized sedan. There was a report of cars being broken into and driven off the parking deck as well. Luckily I wasn’t affected but I did have a hit and run incident with my parked car. Security footage could have helped with my claim, but neither the parking nor Miami Plaza management teams were willing to assist.
The amenities on property are fine, they have a small gym and a pool on the 9th floor. The hot tub is great when it works, but it breaks down frequently. There’s also a little convenience store on the mezzanine floor and another on the ground floor of the building, outside. Super friendly staff at both places.
Lastly, Melo Group is the real root of all the problems I mentioned above. Ultimately they are the ones responsible for the quality of the building, the staff they hire, and the management companies they choose to oversee the parking deck. We had reached out to their corporate office asking for a response regarding the cracked window, even sending them a certified mail letter asking for a formal response. Nothing. When we moved out recently and completed the walkthrough (in which the manager on duty signed off on ‘everything ok’) we were still charged a $150 extra cleaning fee. Once again, we reached out to Melo with picture proof of the walkthrough being completed and the state of the unit when we left. It took a month for them to formally respond simply stating that their own investigation concluded they needed to charge us the cleaning fee. They never sent pictures...
Read moreMy lender car was towed from my assigned parking space the day I arrived with this vehicle from a sixth floor. The management office was closed at the time of my arrival. I identified my self as the tenant and told to both security persons that my car was a lender given to me that same day by the car dealer. The security guard did not offer a temporary permit. I used my beeper to enter the parking lot and parked my car in my assigned parking space. I went the very next morning to the management office to get a parking permit. To my surprise, I was informed that my car was towed that very same night by security ( approx less that an hour after I had the discussion with them) . I have lived for three years in the Miami Plaza as a contract abiding tenant, and I have dealt with all kinds of egregious issues, but i have never filed a formal claim. I believe in due process, communication and healthy coexistence. These basic social concepts are non existent in this management. After over three weeks of filing a request for reimbursement from the management, my claim was finally denied-twice. Apparently the management is not responsible for physical damages to the car while in the parking area. Even if these physical damages ( removal of the car) are caused by the landlord or the company representing the...
Read moreWe recently move to Miami Plaza; I'm in love! The move-in was a fantastic experience. No rush! Management work with us to schedule our move in at best and convenient time. We had access to an elevator for us exclusively move in, very private to load your item. The lobby is madness. I feel that I'm living in a high standard resort. The interior designer did a fantastic job! I have to recognize the management is beyond friendly, very professional, and an impeccable appearance. The apartment view is indescribable; our apartment is in the middle facing East, which gives us a 180-degree view; spacious, it can fit a Living-Dining room. Master has three closets! Very convenient. All Appliances SAMSUNG stainless steel modern, washer, and dryer are on point I can easily wash king set. The pool area is a Wow spouse to sunlight all-day! Jacuzzi is big enough. Gym 100% recommended - a variety of equipment, you are not going to miss your gym membership. Security is a must! The main concern in today's days; the building has an access card; you can not access any part of the building without it. Make us feel very safe! I'm definitely...
