Richards Tree Farm — Local services in Middle Smithfield Township

Firewood Customer TLDR: Great concept, lackluster wood

I found myself up in this area of PA during the weekend of Christmas. We rented out an Airbnb, that had a chimney, and recommended Richard's Tree Farm for firewood. I reached out to the owner, to see if they were open on Christmas Day, and got a response they had a self service setup to buy firewood, which I thought was very smart.

We went, bought a bin of firewood for 20 bucks, which was very reasonable. It was a damp day, had been drizzling, but we assumed if the wood was seasoned, it would only take a bit to dry out and we could use the wood.

Our assumption was totally off. The wood was almost green, and did nothing but steam in the chimney. We were unable to use most of the wood, even after a few hours of active drying, and had to leave the wood for the Airbnb owners.

If I am in the area again, I will probably end up buying from the Price Chopper or another place that can actually cover the wood during bad weather and help keep the wood...

This is in response to the reply left under my review. You must be confusing me for another customer as my mask was over my mouth and nose at all times. And the same goes for the man who was with me who suffers from heart problems and wouldn’t risk exposure to covid. Not once did anyone say anything to us about our masks not being on because they were very much ON and never came off up until we got into our vehicle to leave. It’s sad to make things up to make your business look good. The product here is great for those wondering. However the employee who helped was rude. He was very impatient and walked away multiple times while I was requesting help. (did not get his name) I’m surprised there are no other reviews about the staff being rude, so I think he may have just been having a bad day. But still, that is absolutely no way to treat customers who are looking to buy product at your business. I was truly appalled. I am not someone who leaves negative reviews ever.
