Michaels — Local services in Midlothian

Michaels is honestly now my least favorite craft store. In the past I would come here for a variety of different things but I make jewelry mostly now and paint and their supplies are just subpar. They have no sterling silver or gold plated necklace chains and no plated wire. All of their beads and charms just suck and you can find the same stuff and better stuff at A.C. Moore. I went here the other day to get some display items and paint supplies and wanted to use my 30% off all regular price items coupon and funny thing was they made LITERALLY EVERYTHING on sale so that I really couldn’t even use this coupon. And their store brand materials cannot be discounted so pretty much the next day I go back and return all but one of my items. Low quality stuff and not so great prices. Not going to Michaels ever again. A.C. Moore will forever have my business and definitely all your local small business craft stores, they have high quality materials at...

Overall I enjoy this store and it's staff.

But be mindful of purchasing clearance items. I recently had a situation where I was purchasing a bunch of items and one was on clearance but it rang out for the full amount. I didn't notice until a few days later. When I went to the register for assistance, the lady helping me rudely said "um.. these aren't on clearance" and she kept giving me a weird look. I told her they were on clearance when I bought them. After a few more minutes of awkward silence, she finally called over another co-worker who then confirmed the item is on clearance. Before I left, she did give me a half-hearted apology. But jeez that was awkward. I understand wanting to protect your company's money, but she didn't make any attempts at looking up the item in their system or even walk back to the aisle where they were.

I absolutetly love this store. I don't know why my 1st job was Burger King, it should have been Michaels. I am a scrapbooker since 2001, I have Cricut expression and Air2 so cartridges, cardstock, and now vinyl are my must haves from here. I love how Michaels have kept up with trends. The weekend classes are great for my kids, the craftroom organizing shelves, the new home wall decor, table, chairs, flower pots for your patio, party supplies for all holidays such as table settings, colorful ice buckets, drink dispensers, colorful drinking cups, the checkout aisle even has toys candy and part bag stuffers. These things keep kids quiet in line while waiting. No one can ever go wrong when shopping here bc there is always a sale. And if you are a rewards member the sales get even better.
