My wife and I get to the airport early. We are on separate flights by 20 min. We are both Star Alliance Gold members. We were advised by the United Club that the Maple Leaf Lounge was a newer club and might be fun for us to explore. My wife goes in early to check it out and tells me to come over. She's seated, with food, and past the front desk. I arrive, scan my boarding pass, and the woman won't let me pass because my flight is just after hers and beyond 3 hrs. It's our 1 year anniversary and we are trying to spend a few hours together before we fly in different directions. She won't let my wife use a guest pass. Refuses to make an exception to the 3 hr rule, and sends me packing to our original United Club Lounge. This was the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. This is now twice I've experienced terrible customer service at an Air Canada lounge. I'd strongly advise they revisit their customer service policies. Read moreIf you are tired of the tired and jam packed United Club lounges at SFO try for the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, it's above and beyond better. It's more modern, less crowded, very large and in every possible way a better experience. The lounge offers Canadian-inspired snacks, food and drinks, the bar has 8 choices of wine, full bar. It's much quieter, well spaced out and the staff are canadian level friendly. The bathroom are spotless , great shower facitlies and business area. The real kicker is the outdoor lounging area that is an amazing perk at any airport.
Getting in isnt exactly easy but I was able to get in with a Chase Sapphire Reserve card while flying a Star Alliance airline (United) out. Even if you're on a United flight, skip their Club and head here instead. Trust me, the Maple Leaf Lounge is a hidden gem at SFO....
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised that this lounge wasn't packed and had sufficient staff to keep the food choices stocked and the place very clean. The outside deck was unique and well designed - a touch loud - but I am at an airport. It is worth the experience to be outside for a little while and watch the planes.
I was really suprised that there were shower amenities and they are great and very clean.
There were two TV "rooms" and there are work areas with privacy.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
The lounge offers Canadian-inspired food and snacks.
Sorry the photo isn't great but I didn't want to put any guests...
