While a lot of things have changed nothing has been really fixed. While the rooms are comfortable, the heater and air vent working my problem lays mostly in management and their roommate matching. While you may have comfortable living quarters the roommate program is atrocious. I'm a non smoker, and allergic to cigarette smoke. Simply put I wrote down non smoker on my contract. My first 'roommate' that they had allowed in for what ever reason...did. Quickly after I was rather enraged to find out he was never supposed to be in the room and had smoked in the rooms. Management took over 2 weeks to 'move' him out even though he wasn't supposed to be in, and there was no smoke removal done to the room. I had to do it myself due to "no proof in him actually smoking in the apartment" ...even after a picture of the ashes by the toilet. Next up they pair me with three frats...three frats + a person who is not as outgoing as others and rather shy/quiet not to mention clean.... It just doesn't mix. I Deal with them getting drunk in the living quarters every night, loud music all day and the living/dining quarters are a complete and utter trash. I had wrote specifically on my application "I'm clean and quiet." Which brings me up to my next point, management. Noise complaints down to the front desk gets you no where but a "Talk it out" even though the contract/rules states otherwise. Most of the time nobody at the front desk or anybody for that matter knows what is going on or how to look anything up. Out of the entire staff I've met...I'd like to say 5 people (including the boss) out of the 13+ knows what is going on and can actually help you. On the weekend? Not a chance. Smoke Removal? I don't even think it exists to be honest. Changing rooms? Takes over a couple of months. Internet troubles? Seems like that will be happening every day...and at the moment I've been without internet for soon to be two days. Actually the entire building has except for a few people able to get on to slower then dial up connections. Nobody at the front desk knows what is going on apparently and can never say any helpful advice. In fact out of everybody at the front desk I've met for the past 3 months, only one have been helpful. I can finally say after my 12 month contract I'm getting out. While it may look nice on the exterior these two major problems destroyed my trust in them. Also...for those who get in or are in, you'll soon find out they cater to those who are new. Also thankyou...I enjoy having three drunks, screaming up and down the halls and living quarter every night. It was a "pleasant"...
Read moreBefore moving into the 2040 lofts, I heard a lot of good things, like how nice everything in the apartment is how convenient the rent is, and how secure the building is. before you look at moving in here let me throw you some advice. DON'T. Its terrible. Here's just the biggest things that irritate me. The beds are less comfortable than the couches, expect to get at least a 4" mattress pad. The A/c hardly works because the room and building are so poorly if at all insulated. This also causes you to be able to hear ever conversation in every room in the hall. For got about playing music or the T.V. loud because everyone will hear it. If you are in school you will be treated as if you are still in a dorm. Myself and my roommates (3 engineers, 1 nurse) are not what you would call big party people; yet we have received three noise complaints in the first month. Once while just watching the nba finals by ourselves. When we moved in the place was filthy, if this was a regular college apartment that is dirt cheap, understandable, but not for almost $700 a month. when we asked something be done about it, the management seemed very offended. Maybe this is why we keep getting"noise complaints" . When we got a notice that someone would be in to inspect the last room before our last roommate moved in it said that if the apartment was dirty they would charge us a cleaning fee! now we are as neat as they come but just the fact the think they can charge us for that is absurd. Please heed the warning find someplace else it is...
Read moreI never write reviews, but I feel like I had to for The Marq. I moved in 2 years ago when I started at Marquette Dental School when the Marq was still privately owned. Upon Marquette University’s purchase of the complex, the quality of the living in the building has decreased dramatically. Many of the convenient exits have been converted to emergency fire exits only, the convenient store was stripped down to 2 vending machines, public trash bins on each floor and the lobby have been removed, and now the parking garage is constantly littered with trash and broken glass. As a “pet friendly” apartment, this is unacceptable. My dog has cuts from stepping on glass and have even heard of other tenant’s dogs eating glass and being sent to the hospital. The grills are now also restricted to only a couple months in the summer. On one occasion the parking lot was being repainted and all tenants paying for parking had to find parking elsewhere for the day, with no compensation for the price of parking elsewhere. Finally, the biggest issue with the Marq is the new restricted package station hours of 9-1pm and 5-7pm. These hours are incompatible to any attending dental students who, typically have class 8-12 and 1-4:30, have lunch meetings 12-1, and after class lab work till ~7pm. I would not recommend the Marq to any dental students or pet owners for the tenants are not...
