I found Gesu Church to be clearly recognized as one blessed by Our Heavenly Father to ensure God's message, given to us through his son, Jesus the Christ, is not silenced. Gesu’s doors are clearly open to all people, from all walks of life, including students attending college to professionals on their lunch hour. As an observer, it is clear that the parishioners include students, downtown residents, various wealthy and established individuals, and disadvantaged people, seeking a place that they know they will be comfortable in their prayers. Over the years when I have attended Gesu Church, I have witnessed individuals that I imagine represent every level of seeking out their God, from those who see themselves as being very established in their faith to those still asking the Holy Spirit to work within them so they may embrace the freedom given by Jesus Christ. Although it is often stated that one doesn’t need a building to find and experience God, having a community to praise Our Lord with can certainly make the journey a bit lighter and the experience of knowing God and hearing his voice a great deal more authentic with a set place to go where you know two or three will most certainly be gathered in his name, not to mention a place where the Lord’s Table will continue to be set and communion continue to be offered, with many of the sacraments that continue to bond the Cathoic Faith being regularly celebrated and offered, returning harmony to those that have wandered and continued internal freedom to those that have made their home in the person of Jesus Christ, represented in every type of person imaginable that come through the doors of...

Obviously, it is a beautiful church, and it made for some very beautiful wedding photos. As you probably know if you are looking to get married in the Catholic Church there are a few requirements first. We worked with Mike Heimbach, who is retiring and laid out these requirements for us, making the process very easy for us. They had a day where you get together with other couples to go over all of these requirements which was very helpful to us. Then, as we kept checking things off the list we continued to get emails from Mike letting us know we were right on time to get married on our set date.
As for planning out our mass, it could not have been any easier. They had a template and book to follow along with to help you pick out the most appropriate music, prayers, and readings. One thing that we loved about getting married here, is that you had to use your own priest, so we were able to get married by my husband’s cousin which made for an extra special day.
Our ceremony was beautiful, and could not have gone any better. I am so glad we got married at...
