I am giving this Real Chilli a thumbs down as they ONLY cater to Marquette students and their friends. My husband and I have came to this location over a year now every weekend faithfully with no issues. Even when school was out and the business was scarce, we still supported. On Sunday morning 10-08-17 at about 2am there was a huge crowd. We go inside along with friends we had invited to come along and try the chili. As were eating some older lady im sure that was no longer in college began to throw crackers. I asked if they could not throw them our way cause i did not want dirty disgusting hands touching crackers that lands in food that i eat. The one guy asked them if they could stop it and the scraggley guy whom claims he was the owner came up to us and said THIS WAS HIS SPOT AND THEY COULD THROW CRACKERS IF THEY WANTED AS THIS WAS ALUMNI WEEKEND AND IF WE DIDNT LIKE IT WE COULD GET THE f&*^ OUT! So with that said we left and will never in life visit that real chilli ever again. Normally there is a black guy with dreadlocs and another white guy whom is always there and they know us personally but for what ever reason the black guy was not there and there was some dirty disgusting looking guy whom claims he was the owner and he disregarded our wishes and put us out. ahahahahahaha What a joke. So the guy that knows our face wud not speak up for us and with that said we all felt discrimmated against and we will never visit this real Chilli ever again. We will insure this message is on all social media sites as well. Thanks for treating us like poop and well be sure to...
Read moreIt saddens me to leave this review because I am a frequent customer of this place and always love the food and staff upon every visit which is usually around 2 or 3 times a month. Unfortunately last night I went in and had a bad experience due to the the lady serving us being very unsanitary. When we first sat down she was in her phone for a while until she acknowledged us then she proceeded to start handling our utensils and bowls without even washing her hands after being on her phone . On top of that she was visibly sick as we noticed her coughing (barely covering her mouth or covering with her hand ) wiping her nose with her hands and sniffling a lot. I understand this happens and it is the season for colds but In the food industry it is imperative to be mindful of sanitation ESPECIALLY if under the weather . She had no mask no consideration of guests seeing her cough all around in the food area and my BIGGEST concern was I had to ASK her to put on gloves while handling my food. She didn’t even think to put them on and after serving our food she continued to serve other guests their food with no gloves . This needs to be addressed it turned my whole experience upside down and made me want to just leave . I was going to order more food but changed my mind after seeing her spread her germs around . I went around 4-5 last night on November 26th. I didn’t get the lady’s name but she was Caucasian with blonde hair and brown roots . Please take care of this issue as I would like to continue to be a loyal customer but cannot if sanitation is not a main concern for...
Read moreI ate at Real Chili for the first time last week. This restaurant, running since 1931, is a Midwestern Gem. Housed in a lovingly maintained old fashioned diner with a wrap around counter, Real Chili specializes in one dish - house recipe chili - and it's real. It is real hearty, real well priced, and real good. Real Chili has a thick, well flavoured meat based chili. (There is also a vegan chili on offer) There are three pots of it, with three levels of spiciness. You can get a bowl with your choice of toppings, put it on spaghetti, or do a chili dog, Dorito pie or chili nachos. I recommend topping anything you get with their freshly grated WI cheddar. They have dessert, but I ate too much Chili to be able to fit any. I'm not sorry about that. If you come in during manger Brian's shift, you are sure to be treated to true Midwestern hospitality. His pride in the business shows with the care he puts into everything, from making the food to welcoming the diners. He's also a great conversationalist, so if you enjoy a chat, say hi. :) Real Chili is open late, and is perfect for midnight cravings, but I recommend coming in on a quite afternoon and taking time to enjoy the ambience. I came in last week to find some lunch after a very long day, and Real Chili was exactly the comfort I needed. Come and support this living piece of...
