Well, where do I start? I guess first of all I could without a doubt, hands down, say that this has to be the absolute worst, not just antique store, but retail experience I've had. I was in town for family and thought I'd pop in there because I like to look for vintage sports cards. Well, within a minute of being in the store I found some, and not just any old cards, but some great ones.
They were all sloppily thrown into a stack of albums mixed with card boxes that were all opened and looked like either some thieves or kids left them that way. I didn't touch the boxes because if they are already opened then I don't waste my time. Even though it was a mess I still got excited about seeing vintage cards. So, I took two of the binders, which were falling apart, up to the register to see the price of them because they weren't marked. When I asked the owner what the price was he very rudely, angrily, and in a deeply accusatory manner said they should be marked, and looking at me like I removed the price tags or something. It was very odd to get a immediate bad reaction to a simple question. Anyhow, he told me that they were $100 a piece and as I tried to pay with a card he pointed at the sign that says check or cash only. So, I asked him to to direct me to the closest atm and went and got cash, no biggie.
Upon return, I thought to myself, I'm not certain those cards in that binder are worth anything because they were not your typical binder, they were photo albums with cards stuck to the old sticky white gluey cardboard sheets and sure enough I was right, when pulling back just a small part of the corner of the glossy acetate photo sheet I could see those cards were literally stuck to them. I then looked at my son and said the only ones worth anything are like 5 actual sports cards sheets that were thrown into that massive pile of cards, not ruined by photo album glue.
I then went over to grab those loose sheets, obviously not from any of the binders. The rest were literally on photo paper, (with the exception of one very small black binder that had what looked like some set of promo baseball cards that nobody would ever buy). I took them to the register and he said no, I can't sell those because they belong to one of those binders. And I'm telling anyone who's reading this, you or anyone wouldn't have found a non photo album binder with matching sports pages in them.
I asked him to go show me which binder they could have possibly came from and I'll buy it right now. He said no, refused to walk 10 ft over to where the cards were to show me a binder that fit that description. I offered to pay him 50 bucks or whatever he wanted for those pgs but he was adamant not to sell. I stood there thinking to myself, strange, what's going here? So, I left.
Later on, as we were about to leave town I thought, let's run back in, (maybe he was just in a mood) for they don't close for 15 minutes. I kid you not, even though it was 15 minutes til 5pm close time, the second I stepped foot in his store he immediately asked me to leave. A lady standing right by me thought he was talking to her and he said oh no, not you, you can stay. Confused, I then said, I want to buy the binder you're saying those cards belong to, to which he responded, NO, I've already put those cards away and I have to fix the mess over there.
To which I say, Mr Owner, sorry sir, but I did nothing wrong. I pride myself on being a man of integrity and I feel like you thought I was trying to steal from you or made the mess that was already there. I loved your place and would go back there in a heartbeat if I didn't think I was going to be rejected service again. It was an easy solution to just locate the binder you said existed that it belonged to but you didn't want to. I would've bought the binder, been on my way and you, a richer man.
I'm sure most people would love this place, as I did. It's very quirky and fun but, don't go here if you don't like to be treated like I was by being asked to leave because you want to give him money for something he is...
Read moreFelt like a little kid stepping into a magical Timelapse place. Every little aisle was a surprise and full of antiques and fun little toys. Truly one of my favorite antique shops I’ve ever been. You can tell the owner really cares about every little item and that everything it hand picked.
Great place to buy vintage antiques or just to go an explore. I felt like I was at a museum. There’s no AC but they have little fans around the place. We spent like 2hrs there. Definitely a place to stop if you’re visiting...
