I will never shop in this Torrid again. I went in today so I could use my $300 of Torrid cash. I hadn't planned on using it before, but the weather on my trip to ND was different than I had thought it would be when I packed in Maine and I needed more clothes. When I entered the store, the employees were too busy discussing their plans for the week and some other group of customers who came in shopping before to notice I entered. Once one of them noticed me, she explained that today was the last day to use Torrid cash and on top of my Torrid cash, I could get 20% off. She also told me that the clearance was but one get two free. I thanked her and continued picking out items to try on. The staff continued talking about some other customer buying a friend a lot of clothing and saving over $300 when she shopped and ignored that I was there with full arms. When I couldn't hold any more items because I have short arms, I asked if I could have a dressing room to try on clothes. The women said yes, but I'd have to leave my backpack out of the changing room. I use a small backpack as a purse and I explained to the employee that it was my purse and wouldn't be leaving it outside of the room. She told me it was a Torrid loss prevention rule. I was ready to leave the store if that was the case because I'm not somfortable leaving my purse of out sight. However, the employee took the clothes from my arms and said l she needed a moment to stage the clothes. When she came out, she said you have eight items and if you need a different size or want to try something, you need to let an employee change it out. This was to make sure everything was "copasetic". Basically she had labeled me as a thief because I use a small backpack as a purse. All I could think was, I wonder if they do this to women with large beach bag sized purses. Anyway, steaming with anger, I went into the dressing room to try on clothes deciding I was going to leave ASAP. I only liked one top, the rest didn't fit right, but I didn't want to deal with the employee again, so I made the decision to leave the store and go to Maurice's just a bit further down the mall for Torrid. When I left the dressing room, she asked me if anything worked I said "nope and I'm not staying in this store." I went to Maurice's where I was treated with the respect a customer should be treated with and bought all of the tops I needed there. I was already on the fence about continuing to shop at Torrid because of the prices and other poor customer service experiences I have had, but, after today's treatment, Torrid lost a long standing customer and the family I shop with. Maurice's...
Read moreIt's not as welcoming as it used to be. In the last 2 years I've heard from multiple ppl that the staff barely acknowledge you and when I worked there for 2+ years it was all about building relationships with your customers. You have to get to know them, ask probing questions to help them find what they need or want so you can suggest styles they may not have paired together.
I shopped there 2 weeks ago and out of 5 on staff at that shift, I think only the brand new girl made any attempt to connect with us. Torrid is the only clothing store I shop at for myself and looks like I will do...
Read moreI have shopped here religiously for years, but this store has exceeded my expectations since moving to ND in 2019. Staff is always friendly & helpful, and today just takes the cake. My husband was running errands before a camping trip this weekend and I told him I needed a swimsuit - since most of my clothes are from here, I gave him my sizes and told him to ask for help if needed. Whoever worked today did a wonderful job helping him find swimsuits for me - and I am so grateful for the patience and hard work of that staff...
