My first 2024 review and sadly it is not positive. On a positive note, it is clean with plenty of space. Negative includes speed of service, short staffed, food presentation, and food temp. After seating my family, we were given the menus and then thet forgot us. 3 tables came after us and their drinks arrived and their food requests were completed before ours. That was at least 20 min after arrival. The manager who sat us walked by our table and asked if we were taken care of. He ended up taking our drink order because the waiters were busy with the other tables who arrived after us. The manager assigned us a waitress who brought our drinks and took our orders. Over 30 min had passed from arrival. We noticed the other 3 tables got their food. Approximately 8 min after our order was taken the waitress says they ran out of hash potatoes so I picked something else. 1 min later the manager said the hash potatoes had just got out of the fryer. Magic I guess. 10 more min and no food. We noticed 2 plates were on the kitchen table for a while so I asked the waitress if they were ours. She said she did not believe so. 5 min later, the 2 plates that were on the table and our other 2 plates showed up. The chicken was burnt on both plates. The waffles, chicken biscuit, and hash potatoes were cold. We ordered creamer for our coffee twice and the waitress said she had forgotten. We noticed she was busy working takeout orders and cleaning tables. We requested not burnt chicken, hot waffles, and a hot chicken biscuit and they agreed ours looked burnt. The 3 other tables left and we were still eating. Overall a bad experience. My nephew called it the Big, Bad Breakfast. I hope they get better. My daughter wanted to leave numerous times and I chose to give them a try. Management, at least who we believe was the manager, knew what was happening and didn't approach us to apologize. The waitress did. Not even a discount for poor service and food. Not sure if I'll return. I have been reviewing for years and this is one of my worst experiences. I...
Read moreI recently dined at "Big Bad Breakfast" (BBB), and I have to say that my experience left me with mixed feelings. While the restaurant certainly has its charm and offers a cozy atmosphere, the food experience did not quite live up to the price tag.
For my meal, I decided to try the Creole Omelette, which I had heard great things about. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed. The omelette arrived lukewarm, which was a bit of a letdown. I was hoping for a piping hot, freshly prepared dish. Moreover, the flavor of the omelette was blander than I had expected. I was anticipating a burst of Creole spices and a rich, savory taste, but it fell short of my flavor expectations.
We also ordered the kid's meal, which was a Grilled Cheese sandwich with fries. The sandwich was, in all honesty, nothing out of the ordinary. It was a pretty run-of-the-mill grilled cheese, and while it was decent, it didn't stand out as anything special. On a positive note, the fries that came with it were surprisingly good, perfectly crispy and seasoned just right.
One thing that struck me as a bit odd was the option to substitute the standard side for our breakfast meal with French Toast for an additional $6. We decided to give it a try, but unfortunately, it was nothing remarkable. The price seemed a bit steep for what essentially amounted to a couple pieces of French toast. I was hoping for something unique or at least exceptionally delicious to justify the cost, but it didn't deliver on that front.
In summary, while the restaurant's ambiance was pleasant, the food portion sizes didn't quite match the prices. The Creole omelette was lukewarm and lacked the expected flavor punch, the kid's Grilled Cheese was rather ordinary, and the French Toast substitution was not worth the additional cost. However, I did appreciate the tasty fries that accompanied the kid's meal. If you're looking for a cozy place to dine, BBB might fit the bill, but be prepared for a somewhat underwhelming, pricey experience, especially...
