I stop in Mary's mountain pretty frequently. Love their cookies. But I witnessed something on my last stop there that unfortunately will keep me from ever going into this shop again. I witnessed an older woman (who I believe is the owner of this store) reprimand two of her younger gal employees from right behind the counter, while the store was open, and while myself and another customer were in the store. She was very loudly expressing something along the lines of being disappointed in their work performance, their need to get a shift covered, and appeared to be almost laughing as she threatened these girls that their jobs were in jeopardy. These girls looked to be in their teens. They appeared to say very little and acted with more class than this 40 something year old woman did in front of a store full of door dashers and customers. I felt horrible for the girls. I get it, things happen, sometimes a discussion needs to be had. HAD IN THE PRIVACY OF AN OFFICE AND NOT IN FRONT OF PAYING CUSTOMERS. Regardless of whatever wrongs were done, general respect for her employees wasn't shown. The way she approached the situation was completely inappropriate and I couldn't believe she allowed this to happen in front of an audience. She was too busy with her conversation to assist customers so I left the store and continued my night downtown. I returned to the shop later on in the evening and bought cookies from those girls who gave me exceptionally friendly service. I tipped them well. And again, the COOKIES...
Read moreI was disappointed today because the person serving us today was handling raw cookie dough and then proceeded to serve us without changing gloves. While this may not seem like a big deal, it IS a food safety violation and I have the training in baking and pastry arts to know raw cookie dough especially with eggs in it can be very bad due to salmonella and other food borne illnesses which can be present in raw eggs and flour, especially for older folks, children, or people with weakened immune systems. Please please PLEASE change your gloves before serving ready to eat food! It looks unprofessional when you don't, and it can be a real danger to your customers.
I know how hard you guys work, and having worked in a bakery myself I know how much work goes into selling baked goods. Please take this to heart and remind your employees to change their gloves before serving customers!! I'd leave a higher review if I could, because I've really liked Mary's Mountain Cookies, but this experience really shocked...
Read moreMy wife and I visited Mary’s Mountain Cookies on Oct. 16, 2022. We visited the shop back in Oct. 2021 as well. We come to Missoula for Griz football and when we return to Spokane we have brought these cookies back to give to our children as a treat, give to my parents as a “thank you” for watching them, and we save some for the two of us as well!
The shop is cute and welcoming. The employees are all nice, courteous, and helpful. The selection is large and everything looks delicious. They place your cookies in a nice pink box and they sell ice cream too. The cookies themselves are really good and you can decided between two different sizes of cookies. My critique is that they are a little too expensive. Although they are tasty and high quality, paying $25 for the 6+2 deal (8 total cookies) is a little pricey. But to splurge every now and then shouldn’t be that...
