First off I would say I don’t think I have ever left a bad review and this review is not a reflection of the food. Instead of going into all of the details I will try and keep this short.... I was over charged twice! They messed up our order and over charged us $22 by adding an additional meal to our pickup order. We were not given a receipt, when I picked up the food, and in a hurry after driving around for over 30 mins trying to find parking I didn’t think to ask for one. I called back and explained the situation and the server, who was very apologetic and kind, explained that there was no way to refund the credit card over the phone. My option was to either come in and get cash or a gift certificate for the $22. We loaded up the entire family, so I wouldn’t have to find parking again, and we received our $22 back and apologies. At this point everything was fine. We understand mix-ups happen and we appreciated their willingness to make it right; however, It was a lot of extra time wasted on our Friday night and we have little kiddos, which made it a little more challenging.
Now a week later my husband checks our bank statement and we were charged an additional $10. How are they able to charge an additional $10 after the fact but are unable to credit my card back for a mess up on their part? The whole experience was just a headache and with all the additional drive time and screaming hungry kids it was just frustrating to be charged an additional $10 at the end of it all. Again my review is a reflection of their take out progress, not of their food.
*Just make sure to ask for a receipt and check your bank statements...
Read moreTonight my brother and I sat at the bar and had an great meal at Zoo Thai. My review may be a bit biased because I compare all Thai food to what I used to have in Seattle growing up, but I do consider this place amazing to have in Missoula.
To drink we had a Thai Iced Tea with coconut milk and a Jungle Fruit for my brother. My Thai Iced Tea was great and the Jungle Fruit my brother said was delicious and refreshing. 4.3 for each.
The egg rolls were crispy but lacking stuffing and the sauce was thin and not too flavorful. I was disappointed with portion as well 3 out of 5.
Both of the entrees is where they shined through, as well as the attentive service at the bar. The salmon and asparagus panang curry (3* spicy) was delicious with just the right amount of spice for a subtle heat. The salmon and peppers were fresh, and portion size was hearty. 4.7 stars.
The Pad Prik Khing with Chicken was also fresh and delicious, and had flavor even at two stars spice level. I give this a 4.5 stars.
The sticky rice with coconut for dessert was simple and sweet. Nothing crazy special, but it was fresh, hot, and had a good consistency. 3.9 stars out of 5.
Overall this is a quality place to get Asian Fusion Thai food in Missoula. The ingredients are fresh, and we were happy. The price is reasonable, and staff very friendly. 4.3 out of 5 stars for the overall experience. It is usually hard to get a table as there are no reservations and it is...
Read moreNice venue. Decent service. I ordered a drink and liked it because I personally prefer cocktails that are pretty sharp on the tongue, unflavored and low carb. It tasted like vodka and soda water with a splash of basil so I did not think twice about it and even ordered a second. In hindsight, maybe the drinks suck too.
My entree was OK. I didn’t have a complaint per se, it was nothing special despite being on the “Specials” menu and I assumed that maybe it just wasn’t my thing. Normally, I get pad kee mao and this time I decided to be adventurous, so I was trying something new and I was prepared to dislike it.
But I also got two favorite standby recipes to take home to my kids, and that’s where things really went sideways. Once I got home and removed the very soggy take out cartons from the bag, I served my kids up: the pad see ew for one, which was apparently served without sauce or seasoning and was instead a pile of bland wide rice noodles; for the other, the Thai Fried Rice with Prawns, because she will not eat meat except shrimp. Luckily for me and my anxiety about her protein intake, the cooks at Zoo Thai mixed in some small pieces of stir fried beef!
Overall, none of us liked the food very much. Maybe we are spoiled, since we are visiting from Seattle? As such, I am accustomed to paying the same price for much better food.
Over priced for the quality....
