My boyfriend had tons to say...
"I have trusted Muse as my primary source for comics, games, and gaming accessories for many years now. The staff is trustworthy, honest, approachable, and adaptable. The selection of games and comics is wide, well stocked, and of top quality. The atmosphere is open, welcoming, and safe. This is 100% the place to go if you’re looking to buy something new, or hoping to join in on a game night such as Friday Night Magic, a Warhammer 40K game, or a pre-release tournament. From the first time I entered the store the store owner/manager showed extensive knowledge in all the games they stock. I was a newbie who didn’t know exactly what I was looking for, but the manager pointed me in the right direction and I found several games I enjoy to this day. Any questions I had were answered to my complete satisfaction. Never once has the owner of this store been rude or dishonest to me or anyone I know. If you’re new to the world of board games or comics, and want to start somewhere the staff is kind, patient, and skilled at their trade this is the place for you. The same is true if you’re a long-time player looking to step up your game, or find something different to try. With an entire room full of comics, a selection of 50+ board games of different complexity, and a well-stocked selection of trading card boosters, miniatures, and accessories, this store will have everything you need and more to have a great game night, expand your comic collection, or unleash the nerd-fury of a powerfully built (MTG, 40K, Yu-Gi-oh, Pokémon, etc.) arsenal. You can find beautiful dice, play-mats, and card protecting gear here, and all of it is top quality (Dragon Shield, Chessex, Ultra-Pro, etc.) Muse also frequently hosts events for the local gaming community, and has a good showing of players for events ranging from pre-release tournaments, to bring your own game nights for those who want to find new friends to play their favorite games with. During these events the staff members act as knowledgeable judges, rules advisors, and overseers. They exercise excellent judgement, taking care of the players in their store and providing an environment that is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone in attendance. If you have a chance to visit this locally-owned small business I recommend it very highly....
Read moreI come here at least twice a month to get all kinds of things from various monthly comics to the lastest board games. Everytime I come in I get a pack or two of MTG playing cards. Their prices are ALWAYS very reasonable and rival that of Amazon.
Despite the size of the store, it actually has a fairly large selection of goods. In the comics section they have 4 parts, two parts are for new stuff and the third is for older stuff. However, one of the new sections is for comics that aren't as popular there. The last section is for children comics. There is a surprisingly large amount here with many titles to choose from. Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and My Little Pony are a few of the titles you will find there. Great place to get your children into a new hobby.
They also provide materials for many different kinds of roleplaying games. Warhammer, Numenera, and Shadowrun to name a few. I have seen on many occasions people playing these in the second large room they have. They are also fairly open to having others hold their groups there. Muse sells the corebooks, player guides, additional texts, and even assorted dice to get anyone started.
In the board games they have many options. Whither you are looking for something casual or a bit more hard core they have it. A small disclaimer would be that these are more nontraditional games. You're not going to find things like Monopoly here. However, the staff have personally played almost all the games they carry and are more than happy to tell you about a game so long as you ask.
Which brings me to the last part of my review; the staff. While the staff is small, they are all truly exceptional people who really know their stuff. They are knowledgeable about the products they sell and super friendly too. They also are always willing to strike up a conversation about most anything really.
It's a great little shop that is one of Missoula's...
Read moreMuse Comics & Games is a shop I’ve frequented for its great selection and the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff, who always make you feel welcome. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the store’s return policy has left me extremely disappointed, particularly given its niche in an increasingly online retail environment. I purchased three Dungeons & Dragons books, spending $150, along with other items, only to discover over the weekend that the books were duplicates of ones I already owned. When I attempted to return the unopened books on Monday, I was informed that the store does not allow refunds—only exchanges or, in this rare instance, in-store credit. While I appreciate the gesture of credit, I was shocked to learn this is not even their standard policy and that returns are not an option at all. This lack of flexibility is especially frustrating during the holiday season when customers are purchasing gifts and may need to return items. Policies like these feel outdated and unprofessional, particularly for a store that serves a niche market and must compete with online retailers offering more accommodating return options. It left me feeling undervalued as a customer. While I’ve enjoyed shopping here in the past, I can’t recommend Muse Comics & Games in its current state. EntertainMart in the mall, for instance, offers better prices and a far more customer-friendly return policy. Until Muse updates its approach to customer satisfaction, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere, and giving my kid the store credit hopefully he can buy $150...
