Recently, I reached out regarding me and my family's second unpleasant experience at Doin' Dishes - Montclair, NJ. On our first visit, the employee who was there during our reservation (03/25) was not very friendly. I don't know what I was expecting, but she was very serious and we did not feel very welcomed as she explained all of the instructions. We made the best of it, and I chalked it up to them having an "off" day.
During our second visit (04/16), we received less than friendly service again. We were the first reservation for the day, and the employee seemed annoyed by our arrival. She was moving some already made ceramic pieces to a table outside, but we entered the store and greeted her. She appeared less than happy and proceeded to turn the lights on. We arrived at about 12:05 pm, so I'm not sure why this wasn't done already. My brother said something along the lines of "we can just go to the same table as last time" and the employee quickly snapped at him. She said he needed to wait until she reviewed all of the reservations for the day before he could be seated, but it was the way she said it that really made me uncomfortable. Afterwards, whenever we needed additional colors she also seemed annoyed and standoffish. It made me feel uncomfortable to ask, and I noticed she'd keep her back turned a lot, so as to not look available. I'm eager to pick up my pieces, and never return here again.
I've worked in retail and customer-service based industries for most of my life, and this is unacceptable. This is the kind of place where adults or children may need guidance and instructions, especially if it's their first time. I am especially surprised this kind of customer service is acceptable in an area like Montclair. I paid about $245 for this experience for my family and myself, so the least this place can do is provide a good attitude and welcoming atmosphere from their...
Read moreDonât ever waste your time coming here everything about this place is horrible. Workers are rude, unprofessional and misinforming. Came here Oct. 28th, 2024 with my mom, her friend and my grandma. From the second we walked in the worker had a bit of an attitude (to give her the benefit of the doubt she was working alone that day and as someone who has worked at starbucks, dunkin and other retail places I know how stressful it can be). Whatever. She explained to us how everything worked and that if we needed more paint to let her know. When she was serving the paint she spilled a bunch of it on my bag (not a big deal I washed it off) but no apology. Then every time we would try to get her attention for more paint she would turn the other way and walk off. Who knows maybe she didnât hear or see us but it just seemed like it was on purpose. Finally, once we finished and went up to pay she told us that exactly a week from then (so Oct. 5th) our pottery would be ready for pickup but she would call me to let me know that it was ready. I was glad because I have a lot of other priorities in my life like school, work, family stuff, etc. so a call was going to be really helpful to remember! Two weeks go by and just today I remembered about the pottery and I realized something: they literally never called! I called them today and explained that I had been there two weeks prior and that I was told my pottery would be ready in a week but I had never received a call. The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me âWe donât call you we just hold it for a monthâ. I wasnât about to start arguing with these buffoons so I just went to pickup my stuff and that was it. Needless to say, Iâll never be coming back and I highly recommend you find a better pottery place because this one sucks. Would rather watch paint dry than have to deal with such...
Read moreI have been a customer for years and have had pleasant experiences all around. I think they have an excellent selection of pieces and until today I felt they had extremely warm, helpful and kind staff members. I had made a call Saturday to see if by any chance my pottery was ready a day prior because I was in the area and I live 30 minutes away. I was met with the most disrespectful woman I have ever encountered during a phone exchange. Her attitude was preposterous and her tone of voice disgusting. If you're unhappy in your job choice I suggest you find a new one for the sake of keeping future customers. Needless to say I will not be returning for another pottery session. Also I would like to note that after picking my pottery up on Sunday there was a pick up Saturday sign in the building, very ironic. If you're absolutely needing to go here I suggest a Sunday because a very kind employee works then, if you're looking to run into the witch I spoke with on the phone you can try your...
