This store is really special, and has easily grown into one of my top three favorite spots in Montclair. It certainly has the feel of days gone by in all the best of ways. The food is fresh, they have an immaculate menu of sandwiches (and this includes for vegetarians!) and ready-mades. They also have a really fantastic, specialized selection of dried pastas, snacks, sauces, jams, etc. My husband and I went for the first time earlier this month and we were really blown away by this gem. The staff and (who I presumed to be) the owner are courteous, clearly work hard, and are friendly. I asked for several different sandwiches, half a pound of their homemade turkey breast, and some premades, and it seemed to be during a rush hour. I had a question about their selections, and while the staff that was helping me didn't know the answer, she didn't blow over it and instead made sure to check with the owner. This was in the middle of rush hour and there was a strong and consistent line of people; the owner, in spite of all the running around and multitasking, made sure to get me an answer and responded in such a kind and friendly way. It really made me nostalgic for more specialty stores that are run by actual people instead of a generic, mass marketed, one stop capitalist shop. Truly, Rosario's reinforces the ideology of 'shop local.' ...
Read moreHey Rosario's, it would be great if you posted the changed hours on your website and your Google profile. Having a sign on the door that you're taking your Italian style, multi-week vacation means a customer doesn't know you're closed until they've driven all the way over to the store and wasted valuable time (not all of your loyal customers live close by). Is it too much to ask that you respect customers' time and put in the minimal effort required to update your hours online as if this is the 21st century? This lack of courtesy, combined with the curt manner of the woman behind the counter that other reviewers have alluded to, make me think I'm likely to shop here less often in the future. It's a pity, because the meat quality has been quite good, even if a bit pricey, as most of...
Read moreI'm giving Rosario's two and half stars. On two occasions, this year, I purchased almost $100 worth of selected cut ground beef for a specific burger blend (each time). On both occasions, I found the woman behind the counter to be extremely rude ON BOTH OCCASIONS as she rushed me to complete my purchase while I was asking questions to the butcher. The meat product was superb however I am conflicted with returning back to spend my money because of this woman's poor customer service. I am an advocate of supporting my local businesses and this is one business which I would of liked to frequent more often. Maybe this review will help improve certain aspects of this woman's future interactions...
