Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Medina Township

May 2020 update: For years this was my favorite location for customized ice cream cakes. They used to do an amazing decoration job. I spent 15+ minutes on the phone with a nice gentleman who took the time to walk me through all the design options I was interested in. He repeated back the order which was spot on. Unfortunately, this time around they messed up the graphics I asked for, the writing, and the icing lines look sloppy. They didn't tell me when I picked it up that things were incorrect (maybe they didn't know? I should have checked). I went through the drive through in order to avoid the customers inside. While I appreciated the discount they provided on the total (didn't notice until later), I would have appreciated being informed while I was still at the location, instead of the unpleasant surprise when I got home. Cake otherwise is as expected. I may try a different DQ location for next year's birthday cake.

3 years ago: This is my favorite Dairy Queen location around this area. They have a lot of readily available frozen goodies, especially compared to the smaller interior DQ branches. The prices are fair, unlike other "Chill and Grill" locations. Most staff makes a cone perfectly, and generally ordering inside or outside goes pretty quickly. When ordering custom cakes, I've never had an issue with anything. Tastes just as it should and looks great. Most staff is friendly, some staff can be slow to respond or unenthusiastic, but overall this is a good branch. They have some outside seating available too which is nice. We visited this Dairy Queen location out of convenience, we typically go to the Northland Dr. DQ or Seville. We decided to go through the drive-thru which was a mistake. The guy working it sounded very confused, couldn't understand anything we were saying and was unable to answer simple questions so we decided to go in. I thought about leaving when I saw a worker place a sundae on the counter which tipped over, she then hurried and picked it up and gave it to the customer with the ice cream and caramel dripping down the sides. Now, that may not bother everyone, but if you saw how disgustingly dirty the restaurant was, it would bother you. The cooler was all rusty, the floors dirty and the chairs absolutely filthy...EWW!!! Thank God I didn't order anything.

My son wanted to know if he could have mint chocolate chip ice cream with crunchies. (They offer these types of blizzards, in fact we ordered one.) They gave it to him in sundae from with a cone on top, not a problem except there was vanilla ice cream on the bottom and about 2 inches of mint flavoring on top. The claimed they weren't sure how to make mint chocolate chip ice cream....hmmm...but they can manage to make a mint chocolate chip blizzard???

Yesterday was out with the family and placed an order on the DQ App. Instead of selecting the Northland Drive location, I unfortunately was not paying attention and picked Medina Rd instead. So of course when we arrived to collect our food I discovered the mistake. Employee at Northland was not super helpful and suggested I call Medina Rd (while going on and on about how bad the DQ App is).

Luckily I did call Medina Rd and spoke with Brice, who calmly empathized with my silly mistake and told me no problem, once the order cleared their system the next day the restaurant could process the refund. Great news when I fact the restaurant has nothing to do with my error.

Today I called back to confirm and again spoke with Brice, who remembered me from yesterday. He had the ticket pulled and confirmed my phone number. True to his word, I just received the notice of refund from DQ.

Thanks to Brice and the staff at Medina Rd DQ! They made my foolish mistake an easy fix! And for the record, this is the only problem I’ve ever had with the DQ App and it was due to my carelessness....
