Collett Street Recreation Center — Local services in Morganton

Took my son here there are so many rules. I grew up in morganton and used to go here growing up and it was actually fun. As I'm sitting there drawing I take one sip of my drink the whole time I'm there as other parents were also enjoying there drinks. But a man comes up to me while I'm drawing and literally makes me feel like I had broken the law and singles me out 10 minutes after I took a sip of drink. They also told my son he couldn't wear his swim shirt unless it was white? Which doesn't make sense why white? I should of known not to go there after my friend got yelled at last summer for breast feeding her baby. They wouldn't even refund her money and they said it's a family establishment so you can't feed your baby. Sorry I didn't want to conversate with the older guy either. Sorry if I hurt your feelings to the point you had to single me out literally while minding my own business not...

I saw my grandson compete in his first competition swim meet at this facility yesterday! Here's a great time!

Now for the facility: the only part of it that I witnessed was the pool and the men's bathrooms. It is an outside pool, 50 ft in length. The end of the pool closest to the building is approximately 6 ft deep and on the far end near the chain linked fence (which surrounds the whole pool area) it drops down to 3 ft. The pool area is well maintained. I saw nothing that looked in kempt or in need of repair.

The men's bathrooms were spacious and clean. The area that this facility is located in seems to be a clean and safe part of the city.

So as far as a place to go swim in Morganton, NC / Burke County, I'd have to say this is a good...

My daughter is currently taking swim lessons here and loves it. She has already advanced a level and is doing very well. She is shy and timid, but these instructors are doing an amazing job with her. She has been able to complete the activities with the other kids and do very well. I'm very grateful for the talented young women and men who work with these kids. Everyone here is so nice. The young ladies who run the pool are absolutely a delight as well, always willing to help out and answer questions. Highly recommend for swim lessons or just a dip...
